William H. “Bill” Gidney, age 80, of Westville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Bill was born February 28, 1943 in Merryville, Louisiana to Colley E. Gidney and Versie Lanier Gidney, both deceased.
Bill was a retired iron worker who loved making things, including many woodworking projects, he also loved drawing. He was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Knox.
On October 27, 1976 he married Edna M. Wireman Gidney, she survives. Also surviving are his children, William Gidney (Charlene) of Washington, IN, John C. Gidney (Susan) of Florida, Dana A. Deerberg of Wheatfield, IN, Tony Deerberg (Sue) of LaPorte, IN, Kema D. Deerberg Justice (Henry) of Westville, IN, and Martin K. Deerberg (Kasha) of Germany, a sister, Peggy Garrison of Louisiana, and many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Deerberg, brothers and sisters, Colley E. Gidney Jr., Dicie Burks, Dorothy Richmond, Max Burks and Shirley Simmons.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior to services, at New Hope Baptist Church in Knox. Burial will take place at Independence Cemetery in Medaryville, Indiana.
