The No. 31, No. 54 and No. 98 teams have received penalties after suspension parts were confiscated by NASCAR officials in a post-race inspection after Sunday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway.
The three teams violated a P3 level penalty for violating Section 20B-12.5 (D) (offset front hubs found in post-race inspection) of the 2014 NASCAR rule book.

Firefighters from three area departments kept a tractor-trailer fire on U.S. 30 from spreading to a couple of nearby buildings and managed to save most of the truck’s cargo. The Hamlet Fire Department was called to U.S. 30 just west of the Stay 4 Less Motel just after 7 p.m. A semi registered to Hikma Transportation, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minn. had caught fire, and the wind caused the flames to spread to the field on the north side of the road. The driver was not injured. The truck was hauling a load of tractor tires, but the flames were contained before they could catch fire. The Knox and Hanna Fire Departments also responded.
A Hope, Indiana man was arrested in Argos on Sunday, March 30 on a charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Creating a Substantial Risk of Bodily Injury.
Officers from the Argos Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police were called to the McDonald’s restaurant in Argos in reference to gunfire. Police learned that 21-year-old David J. Boston was in the men’s bathroom when a handgun reportedly accidentally discharged. The bullet from the gun went through the wall of the men’s bathroom and through the wall of the women’s bathroom. The bullet lodged in a beam in the common area of the BP gas station and the restaurant.
A stolen credit card has landed a Plymouth man in the Marshall County Jail.
Plymouth police officers were notified by the victim that unauthorized transactions were occurring on the victim’s credit card on the night of March 25 and early on March 26. The four transactions were made at three different gas stations in Marshall County.

The North Judson Town Board will hold a special public meeting on Wednesday, April 2 at 8:30 a.m. CT at the building that currently houses the First Farmers Bank and Trust building at 310 Lane St.
Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry told WKVI that the bank is vacating the building to move to a different location in town. First Farmers Bank and Trust recently bought Bank of Indiana and will be moving to that location.

The Plymouth High School Music Department has been chosen as one of 96 schools in the country to receive the “Support Music Merit Award”.
The NAMM Foundation awards school music education programs with the “Best Communities for Music Education” (BCME) and individual schools the “Support Music Merit Award”. The BCME program recognizes the efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders working to assure that music education is part of the core curriculum. Overall, 376 districts were designated as “Best Communities for Music Education” and 96 individual schools were “Support Music Merit Award” winners.

A North Judson man and a Winamac man face illegal possession of a controlled substance charges in Pulaski County following their arrest Sunday in Pulaski County. DNR Law Enforcement Officers reportedly found them near the Tippecanoe River by the Winamac South Ramp crushing and snorting hydrocodone and acetaminophen pills for which they did not have prescriptions. Anthony Prato, 22, of North Judson and Zebadiah Breyfogle, 18, of Winamac were both taken to the Pulaski County Jail.
A memorial service for Ernest “Lee” Campbell, 76, of North Judson, will be held Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. CDT at the Rannells Funeral Home Hamlet Chapel. A gathering with the family will take place from 1 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Bond has been set at $2 million for the owner of a Knox business destroyed by fire on Thursday, March 20. Starke Circuit Judge Kim Hall found probable cause to charge James Campbell, 46, with arson, which is a Class A felony, during a Sunday afternoon hearing in his courtroom. He also ordered Campbell to surrender his passport. Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office arrested Campbell late Friday. He owns Starke County Recycling, also known as C&C Salvage. The business, located on U.S. 35 just south of Toto Road, caught fire on Thursday, March 20. Starke County dispatchers were notified at 5:17 p.m. The Bass Lake, Knox-Center Township, Hamlet, Washington Township, Koontz Lake, North Judson-Wayne Township, San Pierre and Monterey Fire Departments all responded to the blaze and spent several hours getting it under control.
