10/20/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single-vehicle rollover wreck at the intersection of U.S. 421 and Fisher Street in San Pierre. No injuries were reported.

10/23/14 – The owner of a property in the 3200 block of South 750 East in Knox advised the Starke County Sheriff’s Department his residence had been broken into.

10/23/14 – A resident in the 500 block of North Roosevelt Road in Knox reported people in a red four-door passenger car just threw pumpkins at her house. She said this is the second time it has happened.

10/24/14 – A resident in the 1600 block of East 150 South in Knox reported his mailbox was vandalized by pumpkins.

10/25/14 – A resident in the 1400 block of North U.S. 35 in Knox reported the theft of his six-month-old German Shepherd.

10/25/14 – A resident in the 1600 block of Fernwood Drive reported four our five people coon hunting on his property without permission the previous night.

10/25/14 – A man said he was driving on U.S. 30 at the U.S. 35 exit when something fell off a trailer and damaged his vehicle.

10/26/14 – A resident in the 3100 block of South 900 Way in San Pierre advised someone just lit his lawn mower on fire.

10/26/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department and Hamlet Fire Department responded to a crash in the southbound lanes of 500 East south of 700 North in Hamlet.

10/26/14 – Trespassers were reported in the area of Hensler’s Nursery in the 5700 block of North 750 East in Hamlet. The caller advised two men and a child were hunting mushrooms on the west side of the property and were told to leave. They were driving a gold four-door car with Illinois license plates.

10/26/14 – A man reported the theft of a HTC One cell phone with a laser green case from a home on 250 West the previous night.

10/26/14 – A resident in the area of 400 South and 650 West in North Judson reported shots being fired in the area.

10/13/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and Bass Lake Fire Department First Responders were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on U.S. 35 at 800 South by the Seventh Day Church.

10/13/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home in the 3800 block of South 625 East in Knox for a report of a residential burglary.

10/13/14 0 A resident in the 2500 block of east 150 South in Knox reported a young black man going from door to door asking for monetary donations to pay for college.

10/13/14 – A resident in the 400 block of West Eliza Street in San Pierre reported someone keeps dropping off parts to vehicles at his residence and he does not know who they belong to.

10/13/14 – A resident in the 3200 block of East 200 South in Knox reported a suspicious man knocked on her door, asked for her vote and told her he would win $10,000 if he won the vote. He showed her a paper stating his name was John Garcia. The woman told him she wasn’t interested and asked him to leave. As he was walking away, he yelled at her that she was the only person not cool on this road.

10/13/14 – A resident in the 5900 block of south 600 West in North Judson reported a black man wearing a striped shirt came to her house and asked for votes. She did not open the door and asked him to leave a pamphlet.

10/14/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was advised of a vehicle versus deer crash on Range Road by Joey’s Wallpaper.

10/14/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to a property damage accident at the intersection of Toto and Range Roads.

Incidents:

10/13/14 – Police officers started an investigation into a possible rape that occurred the night before in North Judson. The investigation and any possible charges remain under investigation.

10/13/14 – North Judson Police provided extra patrol in the area of the high school in reference to a possible unwanted subject.

10/13/14 – Reports of a door-to-door salesperson were received from the 4700 block of Mary Street. The female salesperson did not have a permit and was asked to stop going door-to-door and to leave the area.

10/14/14 – An early morning altercation in the 700 block of Bender Street, involving a domestic dispute, resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Gary L. Buis.

10/14/14 – Around 10:20 a.m., an employee from the Dollar General store summoned police in reference to a shoplifter. The suspect and fled after exiting the front door and pulled away in a vehicle.

10/14/14 – A North Judson couple was driving east on Talmer Avenue around 3:45 p.m. in a red Chevy pickup when a smaller coupe-style black Ford passenger vehicle turned in front of the truck on Talmer Avenue and headed south on State Road 39 at a high rate of speed. Two witnesses provided a plate number that was registered to a woman from Monon. Monon police were contacted as well and the vehicle never returned to that address. The suspect vehicle was never located. The vehicle would have heavy front end damage including the hood. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police concerning this incident. Call the North Judson Police Department at 574-772-5914 with any details.

10/16/14 – After receiving several complaints concerning parking on Lane Street in downtown North Judson, a few cars relocated their parking places. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely reminds residents of the Lane Street area, that Lane Street from Talmer to Sycamore Street has no parking from 2:30 a.m. till 6:00 a.m. Daily. Any vehicles parked on the street between those hours will receive a $50.00 fine.

10/16/14 – A report was taken involving a scrapper removing a drain cover in the 600 block of Lane Street. Scrappers are reminded that if the items are not clearly being discarded, you may face theft charges for taking the item[s]. Also residents should be careful not to store or place wanted items near the alley or garbage location place.

10/16/14 – Officers assisted the Child Protection Services in investigating accusations and in removing children from a local home.

10/17/14 – A teenage drinking party was discovered in the 100 Block of Vine Street. Several juveniles were released to their parents and three 18-year-olds were arrested for illegal possession and minor consuming alcohol. Complete reports were furnished to the Starke County Prosecutor and to Juvenile Probation Department.

10/18/14 – A resident in the 300 Block of Franklin Street reported that two windows were busted out of his vehicle.

10/18/14 – A resident in a home on State Road 39 south reported two pellet or BB holes in a window on their home. Police are continuing in their investigation.

10/18/14 – A 2008 black Ford F350 with a dirt bike in the back of it was stolen from Lane Street near the intersection of Central Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked and running. Anyone with information is asked to call the North Judson Police at 772-5914.

10/18/14 – An unwanted guest in the 6100 block of John Street was removed from the residence. The male subject was taken to IU Health Starke Hospital and an emergency detention order was issued.

10/07/14 An animal complaint was received by officers in the area of County Road 500 W. and State Road 10. The loose horse was not located.

10/07/14 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on a moped at the intersection of Oakwood Street and Arlington Avenue. The driver of the moped, Brandon Nicholas Nevil, 20 of Gary, was arrested for a warrant out of LaPorte County.

10/08/14 Police took a property damage accident west of town. Chief Doug Vessely set the damages at over $1000.00.

10/09/14 Police took a report of stolen magnetic signs off of two vehicles in the 300 block of Keller Avenue.

10/09/14 Pulaski County requested assistance from the North Judson Police Department in locating a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle left prior to the officer’s arrival.

10/10/14 A resident reported to police of a scam phone call she received. The caller advised her that she won some money or a car. All she had to do was go to the store and buy a Green Dot card for $350.00 and scratch the back off and give him the number. The caller stated that he was from Winners International.

The North Judson Police would like to warn residents if they receive a call stating that they won a car, money or a loved one is in jail and they have to go to the store to buy a Green Dot card that it is a scam. Please notify your local police department.

10/10/14 Police received a call of an intoxicated driver coming east into town on State Road 10. The vehicle was not located.

10/11/14 A resident in the 200 block of Garden Street reported that she received a harassing phone call.

10/11/14 An employee of a business in the 700 block of Talmer avenue reported to police that she was being harassed by some customers. The case is under investigation.

10/11/14 Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop in the area of County Road 350 W. and County Road 400 S. for a speeding vehicle. A passenger in that vehicle, Dennis Matthew Howard, 23 of North Judson, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

10/12/14 North Judson Police took a report of a stolen trailer in the 800 block of E. Talmer Avenue.

10/8/14 – A resident in the 200 block of West Howard Drive in Knox reported being harassed.

10/7/14 – A resident in the 5100 block of East Watson Street in Walkerton reported a neighbor is playing loud music again even though the police were at his residence last night.

10/8/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department and North Judson Police Department responded to a property damage accident on 500 South at 250 West in North Judson.

10/9/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a vehicle versus deer crash on 700 East north of 50 South. The driver said he hit a deer, lost control and his car went into the woods. He is not injured, but his vehicle is not visible from the roadway.

10/9/14 – An engine was reported stolen from an irrigation system at the intersection of 875 South and 1100 East in Monterey.

10/10/14 – A female driver hit a deer on U.S. 35 north of State Road 10 in Knox.

10/10/14 – A Boa Drive resident reported a telepohone scam and suspicious activities on his bank account.

10/10/14 – A female driver reported hitting a dog that ran out in front of her car in the 100 block of South 700 East in Grovertown, possibly totaling the front end of her vehicle.

10/11/14 – A North Judson resident reported receiving a telephone call requesting personal information from someone claiming to be from the Social Security office for Medicare. The caller did not give the person any information.

10/11/14 – A resident in the 6400 block of East 200 North in Grovertown reported four-wheelers riding on their property.

10/11/14 – A resident in the 5700 block of south 350 East in Knox reported her garage was broken into and several items were taken.

10/11/14 – A man notified dispatchers he was deer hunting in the 2200 block of south 200 East in Knox and found two men possibly cooking methamphetamine. He said they left in a smaller pickup truck. The caller also found several precursors.

10/04/14 A minor property damage accident occurred in the Family Express parking lot. North Judson Officer Nick Vanni set the damages at near $1000. Chief Doug Vessely wants to remind all drivers that several of the accidents our department investigates take place in a parking lot. “Please use extra care vehicle moving in a parking lot, watch for the other guy, especially when pulling into or backing out of a parking space,” he said.

10/04/14 Police received a complaint of yelling coming from the area of Garden Street and Wilson Street. The subjects were either quiet or gone when the North Judson Police arrived.

10/03/14 A landlord reported someone had entered a empty home in the 400 block of High Stree, and moved some items. He requested extra patrols and that anyone trespassing be arrested. Nothing was missing or damaged.

10/03/14 A woman in the 400 Block of Keller Avenue reported to police that a neighbor allegedly came onto her property and battered her. No injuries were sustained, however battery charges are being requested through the Starke County Prosecutors Office.

10/03/14 A vehicle pulling out of the CVS parking lot sustained a front tie rod break which disrupted traffic for a short period. Police controlled the incident and called for a wrecker service.

10/03/14 A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading west on State Road 10 from U.S. 35. The vehicle was never located.

10/02/14 An animal complaint was received by police involving several newborn kittens. The matter was resolved.

10/02/14 Police received a request for a welfare check at the Oakview Motel. Police did the check and everything was fine.

10/01/14 Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 300 Block of George Street.

10/01/14 Officers took a report of a property damage accident near Lane Street and Main Street. Chief Deputy Joe Budner set damages at under $1,000.

10/01/14 Officer Frank Thomas participated in a short pursuit after trying to conduct a traffic stop on 625 South. The suspect vehicle pulled into a driveway near 300 West and both the driver and passenger fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, officer Thomas captured the passenger, Brandon Minix. Thomas conducted an interview and investigation and arrested Minix on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance.

09/30/14 Police responded to a domestic complaint in the 300 block of George Street.

09/29/14 A woman reported that her wallet was taken from the front seat of her unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of Family Express. North Judson Police are investigating.

09/29/14 Employees from the First Farmers Bank and Trust reported to police that a former customer was writing large dollar amount checks to car dealers outside of the Starke County area. The local authorities are covering each area.

9/23/14 – An Ober resident notified the Starke County Sheriff’s Department of three white men in a blue full-size pickup truck with a white freezer in the back attempting to sell meat. If the property owner says they don’t have money, the men offer to trade, possibly in an effort to get into the residence.

9/23/14 – A woman advised she was mowing grass in the 1800 block of South U.S. 35 in Knox and found a possible meth lab in a bag. The Indiana State Police were notified.

9/23/14 – A resident in the 7600 block of South 700 East in Monterey reported his 16-year-old son brought home marijuana and paraphernalia.

09/15/14 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely conducted a traffic stop on Roberts Lane and State Road 39 South that resulted in charges being filed. Dustin A, Kanschat, 34, of Kewanna had preliminary charges of driving while suspended and operation with no valid license.

09/15/14 A report of a protection order violation was taken and furnished to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review of invasion of privacy charges. The incident occurred in the 100 block of S. Schricker Avenue.

09/16/14 A resident reported to police that he was battered and sustained no major injuries. The incident happened in the 100 Block of Talmer Avenue. Charges were requested through the Prosecutor’s Office.

09/16/14 Police investigated a battery that occurred near the Weninger Street Park. Two women were involved and both are requesting charges against each other. A report for review was filed with the Prosecutor.

09/17/14 A police report was taken in regards to illegal dumping of trash by putting personal garbage into a business dumpster, which is theft of services. The problem is believed to have been resolved.

09/17/14 Police received reports of roadside dumping of trash outside of the city limits. This was referred to the Indiana Conservation Department.

09/17/14 Police conducted a mini warrant round-up that resulted in the arrest of two male subjects. Matthew Blount, 27, of North Judson was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation on a manufacturing of methamphetamine charge and Matthew J. Diaz, 20, of Knox was arrested on a preliminary charge of illegal possession of alcoholic beverages.

09/18/14 A property damage only accident was investigated by officer Frank Thomas in the Subway parking lot. A vehicle backed into another parked vehicle. Officer Thomas set damages at over $1,000.

09/18/14 A telephone and text harassment complaint was taken in the 300 block of Dalhke Street.

09/19/14 A loose dog and cat report was received from residents in the 700 block of Cherry Street. North Judson Police returned the animals and spoke with the owners.

09/19/14 A simple battery report is pending and police took a complaint of an adult son and father arguing along the roadside of Talmer Avenue near Luken Street. No injuries were reported and all subjects went home.

09/19/14 A home owner in the 5800 block of 250 West called about a suspicious vehicle that had stopped in front of the home.

09/20/14 Officer Nick Vanni responded to a call in the 5100 block of 350 West for a criminal damage report for the destruction of property and for a battery report.. After a short investigation, the suspect, Corey A. McClung, 19, was arrested on preliminary charge of criminal mischief and battery.

09/20/14 A serious personal injury accident occurred at State Road 10 and State Road 39 North around 7:25 p.m. Saturday. North Judson Officer Nick Vanni was the first to arrive. Three vehicles were involved in the accident. Starke County EMS requested Med Flight, however no helicopter could take off due to the poor weather conditions. Alcohol was a factor and toxicology screens are pending. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident and Officer Vanni is assisting. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, North Judson Police Department, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, and Starke County EMS all responded to the scene. Additional information is not being released at this time.

9/08/14 – An employee at the Dollar General store called police in reference to a suspicious person. North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas located the male subject and conducted a traffic stop. The male subject explained what he did and was released from the scene.

9/09/14 – A resident reported a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of East Leslie Street. North Judson Police Chief Deputy Joe Budner spoke with the subjects and they advised that there were no problems.

9/10/14 – Officers responded to an alarm call in the 5200 block of West State Road 10. It was found to be a false alarm.

9/12/14 – A property damage accident was reported to police in a parking lot in the 300 block of West Talmer Avenue. The damage was under $1,000.00. Both parties exchanged information. No report was taken.

9/12/14 – Police responded to a verbal argument in the 600 block of Keller Avenue. Both parties were separated for the evening.

9/13/14 – Police Chief Deputy Joe Budner located a package containing medical devices in the 6100 block of South Oakwood Avenue. The items were returned to the rightful owner.

9/13/14 – A driver of a vehicle reported to North Judson Police that her windshield was struck by an unknown object that left a circular mark on the windshield. This incident occurred in the area of 500 to 600 West State Road 10. Officers checked the area and were unable to find the source of the incident.

9/5/14 – A North Judson resident advised she was involved in a property damage accident on Toto Road at 200 East in front of Howard's Carpet and the driver of the other vehicle left northbound on 200 East driving a small, tan, four-door car. 

9/6/14 – A resident in the 11600 block of East 400 North reported a family member has taken several items of value. 

9/6/14 – Damage was reported to an irrigation system on 100 East between Toto Road and 250 South. 

9/6/14 – Starke County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home in the 300 block of South 1025 East in Knox for a report of a large fight.

08/24/14 A traffic Stop conducted by North Judson Officer Nick Vanni resulted in a driving while suspended-prior charge for Diane E. Allen.

08/25/14 Officers received a report of reckless driving in the area of Liberty School. The vehicle was gone upon arrival.

08/25/14 Officials with Pop Warner football reported a small vandalism incident. Cameras were to be installed reference future problems.

08/25/14 A motorcycle property damage only crash was reported on State Road 39 north of State Road 10. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas investigated the incident which resulted in no damage. Rhe driver, Delmar E. Caldwell, 56, of North Judson was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

08/26/14 A scam and fraud report was taken at the North Judson CVS. An elderly woman received a phone call from someone acting as her grandson stating he needed money to get out of jail. She was instructed to purchase “green Dot” cards and call in the numbers. Deputy Chief Joe Budner investigated. Chief Doug Vessely continues to remind all Citizens, “Never send cash or green dot cards to anyone unless you know who they are. Never give bank account account or personal information to anyone over the phone. If you are in doubt, it’s always safe to call the police department.

08/26/14 A resident reported to North Judson police that unknown subjects were charging a NIPSCO account to someone’s bank account. This investigation remains open.

08/26/14 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop near Talmer and Sheridan resulting in the arrest of Robert F. Martin, 36, of North Judson.

08/27/14 A resident reported the theft of a window air conditioning unit to North Judson police. The unit was recovered as a scrapper had thought it was trash.

08/27/14 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely provided a complete report to the Starke County Prosecutor in reference to bank fraud and theft case. Improper banking procedures were being conducted by a customer. The North Judson branch of the First National Bank of Monterey reported the incident. Vessely requested felony warrants.

08/29/14 An employee at the North Judson Dollar General called in reference to a shoplifter in the store. After an investigation, North Judson Officer F. Thomas, requested a warrant for theft.

08/30/14 Police responded to a report of a possible drunk driver coming into town on State Road 10 from the east. The driver was not located.

09/02/14 A landlord told police that a tenant was refusing to leave after a lease agreement was over. She was referred to a legal eviction process.

09/02/14 A juvenile female was arrested and charged with theft after an investigation into the theft of mail out of a mailbox in the 300 block of W. Weninger Street. The postal inspector was notified of the same. Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated.

09/02/14 North Judson Police responded to an intimidation and harassment complaint in the 500 Block of High Street. Officer N. Vanni requested formal charges after an investigation.

09/03/14 North Judson Police Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a minor property damage in the CVS/Dollar Store parking lot. He estimated damages just over $1,000.

09/04/14 – North Judson Officers F. Thomas and S. Beishuzen conducted a traffic stop near Vine and Hancock Streets resulting in a driving while suspended prior arrest on Dustin W. Large, 29, of North Judson

A man on a moped told the deputy a woman driving a white SUV and talking on a cell phone hit him, threw him from the moped and left the scene. He told the deputy he did not need medical attention.

8/31/14 – A resident living in the 6900 block of North 1100 East reported a car drove through her fenceline, damaging the vehicle and the fence. No injuries were reported.

8/31/14 – A multiple residents in the 2900 block of South County Road 210 in Knox reported neighbors on Ayers Road have been blaring music for the past four hours.

08/18/14 A call from a resident in the 100 block of Silver Street involved the North Judson Police locating a dog running at large. The dog was returned to the owner along with a $50.00 ordinance violation citation.

08/18/014 North Judson Police investigated a report of a hit and run accident in the 600 Block of Laurel Street resulting in around $2,000 in damages. The owner could not pinpoint the exact time or place where the accident may have taken place. Officer Nick Vanni investigated.

08/18/14 An harassment complaint was fielded by the North Judson police in the 400 Block of High Street.

08/19/14 Officers and an ambulance were summoned to the 500 Block of Mulberry and a person was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

08/19/14 An employee at the Oak View Motel called North Judson police in reference to a disturbance in a room. After an investigation, no parties involved wanted to press formal charges. They were asked to leave the room.

08/21/14 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on 250 West resulting in an arrest of Jason D. Hanson, 33, of North Judson for resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicateed. He was transported to the Starke County Jail.

08/21/14 A property damage accident occurred on Lane Street near the intersection of Talmer Avenue. A vehicle exiting the Napa Parking lot pulled out into traffic on Lane Street and was hit by another vehicle. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident setting damages at near $2,500. No tickets were issued and no injuries reported.

08/21/14 A vehicle traveling north on County Road 250 West, just south of County Road 700 South swerved off the roadway to avoid hitting a few chickens in the roadway. The vehicle than struck a fence and a tree. North Judson officers responded to the accident and Officer Scott Beishuizen investigated the incident setting damages just under $5,000. No injuries were reported. Chief Deputy Joe Budner assisted in the investigation.

08/21/14 A storm caused a tree to lose some big limbs that hit electric lines. North Judson police responded to the traffic hazard and notified the street department who came out and cleared the debris.

08/22/14 Police responded to the 200 Block of Garden Street in reference to a dog complaint. Police spoke to both neighbors involved.

08/23/14 Another dog complaint was reported in the 200 Block of Leslie Street. Police gave a verbal warning to the owners.

08/17/14 John Bochnicka, Jr., 44, 311 N. George Street, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on a warrant and on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement.

08/19/14 – Michael A. Nickelson, 38, 402 Lincoln Street, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on warrant for failure to appear.

8/7/14 – A caller reported finding a duffel bag full of apparent meth lab trash on 700 East north of State Road 10.

8/7/14 – A man reported his son’s moped was stolen from a residence across from the Marathon station in Koontz Lake earlier today.

8/7/14 – Anna Malgorzata, 38, of Donaldson, was northbound on 50 East east of 1100 East, swerved to avoid hitting a deer and struck a tree. She was not injured.

8/8/14 – A resident in the 8800 block of East Long Lane Drive in Knox reported the theft of a concrete statue from the yard.

8/8/14 – Deputies responded to a vehicle versus deer accident on 500 West between 800 and 700 South. No injuries were reported.

7/28/14 – A resident in the 300 block of East 625 South in North Judson reported three aggressive dogs came after her when she went out her front door. This has happened previously. The Starke County Humane Society advised they have tried in the past to catch the dogs but have not been successful, as they are wild. They urged the sheriff’s department to attempt to trap them. The prosecutor’s office was also contacted. They advised the victims could have the right to protect themselves in this instance.

7/28/14 – A North Judson resident reported a telephone scam and was advised not to respond to it.

7/29/14 – A resident in the 7800 block of North Tippecanoe Drive North in Walkerton reported damage to a garage, apparently caused sometime today when a vehicle ran into it.

7/29/14 – A resident in the 3200 block of East 300 North in Knox reported a possibly intoxicated person is refusing to leave her residence and just set something on fire in her back yard. She called back to report he kicked her door in and entered her house.

7/29/14 – A resident in the 8100 block of North State Road 23 in Koontz Lake reported his neighbor is burning copper.

7/30/14 – A resident in the 2800 block of East Toto Road in Knox reported receiving a threat.

07/30/14 A domestic complaint was reported in the 300 block of Arlington Avenue. A report was filed with the appropriate agency.

08/01/14 A resident reported to police that there was a loose dog chasing joggers. The officer checked the area but was not able to locate the dog.

08/01/14 Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on Talmer Avenue in front of Liberty Elementary resulting in the criminal arrest of Andrew C. McCarty for Driving While Suspended Infraction.

08/02/14 A resident reported to police that there is a giant raccoon on her roof. The officer checked but was not able to locate the giant raccoon.

08/02/14 Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a property damage accident at the intersection of Main Street and Lane Street. Two pickup trucks collided in the intersection. Budner estimated the damage at over $1,000.00.

08/02/14 Officer Frank Thomas responded to a vehicle off the roadway on County Road 500 South just east of Born’s Trailer Park. After a brief investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Christina P. Hensley, 42, of Kouts, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated refusal.

An occupant of the home claimed two guys wearing black masks broke in, took the guns and threatened to kill him if he told anyone. The property owner then called the sheriff’s department and advised his cousin had stolen the guns and pawned them.

7/14/14 – Deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at the Grovertown Truck Stop.

7/14/14 – A resident in the 5100 block of South 1100 West in San Pierre reported someone shot a hole through her bedroom window. She said she heard someone shooting in the woods behind her property around noon and advised her family was at home at the time.

7/7/14 – Deputies were called to a store on U.S. 30 to remove a possibly intoxicated patron who has been inside the establishment for nearly three hours and is making the female clerk very nervous.

7/8/14 – A resident in the 10500 block of East 900 North in Walkerton filed a theft report.

7/8/14 – A Monterey resident reported receiving a telephone call from a man with an Asian accent who told her about paperwork she had received from the court. When she told him she had not gotten any paperwork, he demanded she call him back at 844-244-4492. When she did, she got a busy signal. A deputy advised her not to answer any more calls from that number, as it is probably some sort of scam.

7/8/14 – A resident in the 1700 block of north 1025 East in Grovertown reported the side door of the garage was kicked in last night and items are missing.

7/8/14 – A resident in the 1800 block of east 250 South in Knox said he was walking when his neighbor’s dog tried to attack him. He and the neighbor got into a verbal argument over the situation.

7/8/14 – A deputy responded to a home in the 5800 block of east 450 South in Knox to settle a dispute between neighbors that reportedly turned physical.

7/8/14 – Nicholus Benjamin Ingram, 19, of North Judson, hit a deer on State Road 10.

7/9/14 – A Knox resident reported a telephone scam.

7/9/14 – A resident in the 1900 block of south 300 East reported the theft of a lawn tractor out of the yard the previous evening.

7/10/14 – The owner of a property in the 1400 block of West 400 South called from out of town to report someone possibly staying at her home without her permission.

7/10/14 – A pilot who landed his plane at the Starke County Airport reported an intimidation incident involving another person at the airport. The FAA has also been contacted, and copies of the police report have been forwarded to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.

7/10/14 – Reckless driving was reported in the area of 400 South and 200 East in Knox. The vehicle’s two occupants are reportedly hitting things by the side of the road.

7/11/14 – The owner of a property in the Lomax Station area of San Pierre reported someone cutting down trees on his property and parking a truck there without permission.

7/11/14 – Kathleen Gayle Riley, 52, of Medaryville, and Olga A. Matzat, 86, of Culver, were involved in a traffic accident at an unspecified location in Knox. Police, EMS and Bass Lake First Responders were all called to the scene. It’s unclear whether anybody was injured.

7/11/14 – The Bass Lake Fire Department was dispatched to The Pocket at Bass Lake where a golf cart burst into flames in the road while a man was riding it. No injuries were reported.

7/12 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and Bass Lake Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch in the 1400 block of State Road 10 in front of Konrad Cabinets.

7/12/14 – A Monterey resident reported receiving harassing telephone calls from people in Florida. She said the number is a Magic Jack number that cannot be blocked.

7/12/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department received a report of people on dirtbikes speeding, doing wheelies and burn outs on the slick pavement near the Koontz Lake Park.

7/12/14 – The owner of Russ’s Tire on State Road 10 in North Judson reported a white Ford Escort just went off the road into his parking lot and through his neighbor’s trees and yard before continuing south onto Range Road.

7/12/14 – Nicholas A. Radtke, 34, of North Judson hit a deer on State Road 39 at 500 South.

7/12/14 – A resident in the 1100 block of east 700 South in Knox reported a man came to her residence wanting to trim her trees.

7/13/14 – Guests at the Stay For Less Motel in Hamlet reported an intoxicated man is there trying to start fights with everyone.

7/13/14 – A Washington Township Volunteer Firefighter stopped at a home in the 400 block of south 800 East in Knox and extinguished a small fire under the home’s porch.

7/13/14 – The owner of a property in the 2500 block of South U.S. 35 in Knox reported someone spun around in his parking lot, flung rocks up, and they damaged his air conditioner. He will pull the tapes and try to get a vehicle description.

7/13/14 – Deputies were notified of a fight between two women in the 8800 block of North State Road 23 in Walkerton.

7/13/14 – A North Judson resident reported quite a few marijuana plants growing across the road from his residence.

07/07/14 A resident in the 100 block of E. Talmer reported to North Judson Police that the two rear tires of her vehicle were cut or punctured.

07/07/14 Police issued several tall grass ordinance violations this week and three violations for no swimming pool permit. An additional four violation were issues for no animal tag[s]. The grass and animal violations are $50.00 each and the pool permit violations are $100.00 each.

“It’s very simple to avoid any fines,” said Town Marshall Doug Vessely. “Mow your lawn before the grass or weeds are eight inches tall, purchase animal tag[s] if you harbor a dog or a cat, and get any proper building, pool, or zoning permits. We don’t like writing ordinances violations, however it is necessary for those who refuse to follow the town’s rules.”

07/09/14 Several vandal calls were made to police. Several calls of vandalism, minor thefts, and destroyed property were made. A resident in the 600 block of Keller Avenue observed three to four juveniles running in the alley after hearing some noises. The calls ranged from a house number sign being taken and thrown into a neighbor’s yard, broken garage window, an American Flag taken down, an inflatable swimming pool being cut, small pool overturned, flower pots and solar lights being removed and relocated. Others included twigs in a mailbox, for sale signs being rearranged, a port-a-potty being overturned, and a bicycle being taken and located few blocks down the street. Most of the devious conduct was between 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. Almost all items were returned. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the North Judson Police at 574-896-5914. A cash reward leading to the arrest of any individuals will be offered.

07/09/14 Police responded to a call of trespassing and intimidation in the 600 block of Laurel. All parties were separated and criminal trespass warnings were issued.

07/09/14 An employee at the Dollar General Store informed officers of a shoplifter with Deputy Chief Joe Budner responding. After an initial investigation, Victoria Ann Goetz was arrested and charged with the new misdemeanor theft charge.

07/09/14 North Judson Police Officer Rico Simpson conducted a traffic stop on Talmer Avenue near George Street resulting in the arrest of the driver, Donald L. Peretti, for a Failure to Appear warrant through Pulaski County. He was also issued a uniform traffic ticket for no motorcycle endorsement.

07/09/14 A vehicle owner reported to police that her vehicle sustained a broken windshield while parked at the CVS parking lot.

07/09/14 A report of a family/domestic dispute was made in the 6100 block of Hubeny. No physical injures or touching was reported. The parties were separated for the evening.

07/09/14 Police responded to an unwanted guest in a family dispute on Woodlawn Drive. Officer Rico Simpson arrived and arrested Crystal Leeann Johnson-Coty on a preliminary charge of possession of a controlled substance.

07-10-14 Just before 8 a.m., a Gary, Indiana woman, driving a USPS-leased delivery truck was exiting the North Judson Post Office when she went east out of the old Farmer’s Bank and Trust drive-thru. The North Judson Police were summoned and considerable damage was sustained by the truck and the drive-thru structure. North Judson Deputy Chief, Joe Budner investigated the incident and estimated damages at over $15,000.

07/11/14 A report of a suspicious circumstance was made in the area of Keller and Central Avenues in reference to a lady throwing her shoes at passing vehicles. The woman was calmed down and returned home. No damages were reported.

07/12/14 An early morning dog walk upset a resident who called the North Judson Police in reference to a large pit bull running loose in the 200 block of Park Avenue. The animal was returned to his owner on Park Avenue. The owner was issued a $50.00 ticket for no dog tag, and a verbal warning for running at large. The caller was walking her dog and felt unsafe with the pit bull freely roaming. All animals must have a license, remain on your own property unless on a leash, and you must clean up after the animal.

07/12/14 A bicycle was reported damaged in the 200 block of Franklin Street. An unknown subject put a pitch fork prong through the front tire. The pitch fork was taken into evidence. It is older with a broken handle.

07/12/14 Another domestic/family dispute was reported in the 400 block of High Street. Police advised all parties to move along and a verbal criminal trespass warning was issued.

07/13/14 Officer Nick Vanni conducted a traffic stop in the early morning hours, and after an investigation arrested Joseph P. Danti of North Judson for operating a vehicle dangerously while intoxicated and for over .15 BAC.

7/4/14 – A resident in the 3400 block of North 900 East in Grovertown said a man in a black Jeep-style four-door vehicle accused him of nearly causing an accident, backed into his driveway, got out and punched him before leaving northbound on 900 East. The victim said his glasses and dentures both got broken and requested medical attention.

7/4/14 – A resident in the 10300 block of east 700 North in Koontz Lake reported kids riding golf carts up and down the roads in the area. He said none of them are old enough to be driving, and he and several neighbors have complained on numerous occasions.

06/24/14 An employee at Carpenter’s Oil Company reported a $20.00 drive-off. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

06/27/14 After a brief investigation, officers requested charges of invasion of privacy after a suspect allegedly violated a no contact order.

06/27/14 A loud noise complaint was filed by a residence in the 300 block of Main Street. Officer Rico Simpson believed the issue to involve fireworks, however no one was found to be in possession of fireworks.

06/28/14 A hit and run property damage accident occurred in the CVS Parking lot early afternoon causing damage to a 2004 four-door, silver Chevy. Anyone who may have seen something or knows who could have backed into this vehicle is asked to call the North Judson Police Department (574) 772-5914.
