Incidents:
03/25/13 Medaryville police, EMS and Pulaski County police responded to a rollover accident at 500 North and State Road 39 where one woman was injured.

03/25/13 A resident on 500 North in Winamac reported hearing shots being fired from the east side of her residence.

03/24/13 Emergency responders were called to a personal injury accident at the intersection of State Road 14 and 800 West.

03/24/13 Several accidents were called into the dispatch center due to weather.

03/23/13 A Winamac resident told police that a stray dog just viciously attacked his dog and the resident’s dog had to be put down. The caller wants something done as kids in the neighborhood could be attacked by the dog as well.

03/23/13 The Medaryville Police Department was called out to a grass fire that was moving toward a house.

03/23/13 Emergency crews were called to a Winamac residence after a 60-year-old man fell 12 feet out of a tree. The man sustained an injury to his leg. The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

03/22/13 Police were called to a domestic verbal altercation that escalated.

03/22/13 Detectives are reviewing information received in an abuse case.

03/22/13 A resident was upset that a sign was placed in her yard and demanded a stop to this type of harassment.

03/22/13 The Monterey Fire Department was called to assist the Bass Lake Fire Department with an unruly controlled burn.

03/22/13 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a field fire at 15397 W. 160 N. in Medaryville that was moving close to a home.

03/22/13 A caller advised that a vehicle that didn’t display a handicap placard or license plate was parked in a handicapped parking spot. An officer from the Winamac Police Department was called to the scene.

03/21/13 Animal control responded to a report of a starving dog. The owner was advised to get the dog to a vet or it would be confiscated.

03/20/13 A complaintant told police that unknown subjects were on his mother’s property cutting up scrap metal.

03/19/13 The theft of a gun was reported to police. After an investigation, officers found that nothing was missing.

03/23/13 A hit and run accident was reported at the Phillips 66 gas station.

03/22/13 Eduardo Decerra, 50, 715 Loon Ct., Plymouth, IN was given a citation for never being licensed.

03/19/13 David Harris reported a phone scam.

03/19/13 Marcella McCormick, stated her stated her home had been broken into.

03/19/13 A NIPSCO pole on the southeast corner of Lake Street and Bower Street was snapped at the bottom.

03/18/13 Donald Schuld told police that a vehicle parked in the back yard of his property had damage. The windshield appeared that someone had thrown a rock at it.

03/16/13 Donald Harradon reported a stolen license plate.

03/15/13 Harriett Huth reported the theft of a license plate.

03/15/13 Jackie Parker reported the theft of a lawn ornament.

03/14/13 Julie Manns alerted police of a starved  young dog at 202 N. Clark Street. When the officer arrived at the scene, he saw a very skinny dog with bones showing through the fur. Two other dogs at the residence appeared healthy. Animal Control was called but there was no answer. Suzanne Crider from the Starke County Humane Society was called and took custody of the dog due to it being malnourished.

03/14/13 Andrew Nice reported a hit and run accident. Nice was on Main Street approaching Potter Street when another vehicle entered his path of travel. The vehicle hit his car and caused damage to the front right bumper and passenger door. The suspect vehicle left the scene.

03/24/13 Jody McCoige, 48, 20504 8th Rd., Plymouth, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Driving While Suspended-Prior.

03/22/13 Thomas Ostrega, 38, 1880 E. 350 S., Knox, IN, arrested on two active arrest warrants out of Knox City Court.

03/21/13 Aaron Brewer, 22, 303 N. Clark St., Knox, IN, arrested on an active Starke County Circuit Court warrant.

03/21/13 Aarron Lucy, 35, 5485 S. 250 E., Star City, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Nudity.

03/17/13 Two juveniles were cited for Illegal Possession of Alcohol.

03/15/13 Ronald Clary, 43, 5265 S. 275 W., North Judson, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

Incidents:
03/24/13 North Judson Officer Darren Conley conducted a traffic stop around 5:07 a.m. after observing a vehicle cross the center line and continue to travel in that lane. The driver, Michael Carpenter, 47, living at 206 W. Weninger street, was arrested for Driving while Suspended-Prior.

03/23/13 After observing erratic driving behavior, North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 625 South and County Road 300 West, resulting in the arrest of the driver, Roy McDanile, 62, of Knox for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. McDanile’s passenger, Cammy Janis, 46, of Lake Station was also arrested for Public Intoxication.

03/20/13 A minor property damage accident was reported to police in the parking lot of the Napa Auto Store on Talmer Avenue around 9:10 a.m. A vehicle was driving east on Talmer and turned into the parking lot and it was rear-ended by another vehicle. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner estimated damages at near $2,000 and placed the second vehicle at fault for following too closely.

A second single vehicle property damage accident occurred around 10:48 a.m. in the parking lot of Connie’s Salon on Lane Street. An elderly gentleman was parking his vehicle in the south lot when he hit the gas instead of the brakes, striking the building. Chief Deputy Joe Budner set damages at near $5,000. No injuries were reported in either accident.

03/20/13 North Judson Police responded to an ordinance violation incident in the 200 Block of W. Weninger Street. A construction company from Brookston was demolishing a burned-out home. The company did not have a local Contractors Permit and the work was stopped. The company was given a notice the day before to obtain the permit. A violation and fine will be sent to the company.

03/19/13 Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Leslie and Wilson Streets in North Judson on Tuesday evening. As a result of the incident, Shane Reed, 26, of Winamac was arrested for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and transported to the Starke County Jail. Additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Trafficking with Inmates were filed.

03/18/13 – A caller told police that someone had broken into the storage units on U.S. 35 just north of the Pulaski/Starke county line.

03/18/13 – Zachary Bau of Knox told police that someone had stolen the title from his vehicle.

03/18/13 – Rick McCan of Hamlet told police that someone had broken into the vacant house on the Sisco property.

03/19/13 – A fistfight was reported near the intersection of 750 East and U.S. 30 in Hamlet.

03/19/13 – A North Judson resident told police that she received a scam phone call telling her she had won money.

03/20/13 – A resident of the 7600 block of East 25 North in Knox reported that someone was stripping out the power lines and meter boxes near a home undergoing foreclosure.

03/20/13 – Carolyn Trusty of Knox told police that someone had gone into her residence and stolen her belongings.

03/20/13 – A mailbox was reportedly stolen in the 8500 block of East 400 North in Grovertown.

03/20/13 – A resident of the 10100 block of East Francis Street in Grovertown reported someone had kicked in her door.

03/20/13 – A resident of the 2400 block of East Toto Road in Knox told police that someone had stolen her daughter’s tablet and some movies.

03/22/13 – A theft was reported in the 6600 block of East Toto Road in Knox.

03/23/13 – A resident of the 2500 block of East 100 South in Knox reported someone had tried to break into his garage.

03/23/13 – A resident of the 8900 block of North 1050 East in Walkerton told police that someone had stolen his checks.

03/19/13 – Adam Goliver, 25 of Walkerton, was arrested on charges of Intimidation and Criminal Recklessness.

03/20/13 – Adam M. Koske, 30 of Winamac, was arrested on charges of Possession of a Syringe, Possession of a Controlled Substance, False or Fictitiuous Registration, and Driving While Suspended.

03/21/13 – Sarah Ann Mills, 20 of North Judson, was arrested for Criminal Mischief.

03/21/13 – Henry E. Wood, 33 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Manufacturing or Financing a Controlled Substance.

03/21/13 – Terry L. White, 56 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Habitual Traffic Violator.

03/23/13 – Lawrence Joseph Minarik, 31 of San Pierre, was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

03/23/13 – Kristina Lynn Warner, 25 of Plymouth, was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, Disorderly Conduct, and Battery.

03/12/13 – A resident of the 2200 block of South State Road 23 in Knox told police that someone fraudulently used her credit card.

03/13/13 – A battery incident was reported in the 8800 block of South Lincoln in Monterey; the caller told dispatch she had been battered by a male subject with a hammer.

03/13/13 – A resident of the 4100 block of South 350 West in North Judson reported he had been the victim of a scam..

03/13/13 – A resident of the 1800 block of East 625 South inn Knox told police someone had filed taxes in his name in Ohio.

03/14/13 – A caller from the Down and Under Bar near Hamlet told police that someone had placed a camera in the men’s bathroom.

03/14/13 – A resident of the 5700 block of South 250 West in North Judson reported someone had pretended to be her grandson and told her he had been in an accident; he requested $1800, but she did not give him any personal information or money.

03/14/13 – Dave and Shelly Fretz of Hamlet tol police that they received a text message from Demotte State Bank informing them their account had been deactivated, but they do not use that bank.

03/15/13 – A resident of the 7300 block of East State Road 8 in Knox told police that he had been the victim of fraud.

03/15/13 – A resident of the 6700 block of South Shewski Road in Knox told police that while cleaning along the ditch north of 650 South, he foud zip-lock bags with pop bottles and some bags with cold pill containers.

03/15/13 – A resident of the 1300 block of West 200 South in North Judson reported two males in a white van were travelin the area selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door-to-door.

03/17/13 – A resident of the 100 block of North McCormick Street in Hamet told police that someone had broken into her van the night before.

03/13/13 – Jason Robert Bazemore, 41 of Winamac, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated as a Class C misdemeanor.

03/16/13 – Robert C. Howard, 24 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Criminal Recklessness, Intimidation, and Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

03/16/13 – Paula M. Gilson, 44 of Hamlet, was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance following a traffic stop.

03/16/13 – Troy Alan Fisher, 30 of Knox, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated as a Class A misdemeanor.

03/17/13 A trespass warning was given to a subject after intimidation threats were made.

03/17/13 A Star City man reported the theft of music equipment.

03/16/13 A man called to report that he swerved to miss a deer and ended up in the ditch. The driver was not injured.

03/16/13 A Star City resident told police that some unknown persons spray-painted a tree in her front yard and the back of one of her buildings.

03/15/13 A farmer told deputies that some unknown person attempted to break into his barn. The barn doors were open but no one was injured.

03/15/13 Deputies spoke to a property owner in the area of 200 N. and 300 W. about burning tires.

03/14/13 Police responded to a call of a car in a ditch. The driver reportedly sustained injuries.

03/14/13 A Francesville resident on 550 S. reported items missing from tanks and porperty damage.

03/14/13 DNR was called to help a patron as two aggressive dogs were preventing him from leaving the Natural Resources dump. He man was in the bed of his truck and the dogs were growling as he was attempting to get back into the truck. The dogs were reportedly trying to protect a deer carcass that they had been eating.

03/14/13 A Winamac resident told police that an attempted break-in occurred at her horse barn.

03/13/13 Medaryville police responded to a battery incident.

03/13/13 A complaintant advised that her neighbor continues to feed a pack of wild dogs. There are 15-20 wild dogs that come into the neighbor’s yard. Police spoke to the man who stated that he doesn’t own any of the dogs and that he just feels bad for them. Animal Control will attempt to begin trapping the dogs to remove them from the area.

03/13/13 A caller believes that his soon-to-be ex-wife is stealing his mail.

03/11/13 The Star City Fire Department was called to a trailer or woods fire on 450 West.

03/11/13 Pulaski County SWAT were called to the Oregon-Davis Schools in reference to an alleged threat.

03/17/13 Thomas Ortman, 22, of Winamac, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Driving While Suspended with a Previous Conviction and Possession of Marijuana.

03/14/13 Noble Shelton, 24, of Rensselaer, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear.

Incidents:
03/17/13 A call was dispatched in reference to a man driving around town recklessly. North Judson Police located the suspect, Frank Horky. After an investigation, facts unfolded that Horky had discharged a firearm at his residence. He was arrested for OVWI., Criminal Recklessness, Felony Intimidation, and Neglect of a Dependent. North Judson Officer Frank Tomas and Chief Doug Vessely investigated the incident. Starke County Sheriffs Department assisted as well.

03/16/13 Police responded to the Mint Valley apartments in response to a subject not breathing. Upon arrival, a 28-year-old male was found non-responsive. The Starke County Coroner’s office was advised. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The male was visiting the area from Nevada. After an investigation, Nicole Troike, 30, of Las Vegas, Nevada was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Starke County jail. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas and Chief Doug Vessely investigated. Several Departments assisted in this investigation.

03/15/13 Good To Go reported a drive off of $75.01. This incident is still being investigated.

03/14/13 A resident in the 400 block of Main Street received a text message from Demotte State Bank. The resident was advised that it was a scam and not to respond to the text messages.

03/14/13 A resident in the 200 block of Silver Street reported that there was a dog barking on Maryland Street.

03/13/13 Police located a disabled vehicle at State Road 10 and State Road 39. The driver stated that her son was on his way to help her.

03/12/13 The North Judson Police Department assisted the Knox Police Department serving a search warrant in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. A search warrant was later severed which resulted in two arrests for possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance. Two juveniles were also charged with the same charges and a report was sent to the Probation Department.

03/11/13 Police responded to a animal complaint in the 700 block of Laurel Street.

03/17/13 Frank A. Horky, 47, 109 Sycamore Street, North Judson, IN, was arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Criminal Recklessness and felony Intimidation.

03/16/13 Nicole Troike, 30, 4003 Weybridge Dr., Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

03/10/13 A Winamac resident called to say a stray dog appeared to have been shot, but it had actually been hit by a car.

03/10/13 Medaryville Police were called to investigate a minor personal injury rollover accident south of State Road 14 on U.S. 421.

03/10/13 A person told police that the basement windows were broken out at a home in the county.

03/09/13 Winamac Police Department officers were called to a home where a window had been shot out.

03/09/13 Winamac officers were called to a home where the homeowner complained about individuals knocking on the door and not identifying themselves when asked to do so.

03/09/13 A complaintant called 911 after seeing a suspicous vehicle. The suspicious vehicle was acutally a police vehicle and the caller was thankful for the police presence in the neighborhood.

03/09/13 A stolen bicycle was reported to Winamac police officers.

03/09/13 A caller told police that someone threw something through the window and broke it.

03/08/13 The owner of a Winamac business notified Winamac police that a subject of a theft at the business is being held in the store.

03/08/13 Medaryville responded to a call of a person who stated that the walls of a rental property were blackened with soot and a strong odor was present.

03/07/13 A slid off was reported off old State Road 14. No injuries were reported.

03/07/13 Winamac residents complained that their neighbors were burning trash and furniture off to the property line.

03/05/13 Several accidents were reported due to a snowstorm in the area.

03/11/13 Gregory Billingsley, 38, of Winamac, IN arrested on preliminary charges of Domestic Battery.

Incidents:
03/10/13 Police responded to a property damage accident on State Road 39 and County Road 400 South. A vehicle driven by Haley M. Clary struck a deer. North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley estimated the damage to the vehicle over $1000.

03/09/13 Police responded to a property damage accident on State Road 10 west of Range Road. The driver of the vehicle, John L. Darnell, 51, of Knox, advised Officer Darren Conley that he was eastbound on State Road 10 when a deer jumped in front of his vehicle. Darnell stated that he was not able to avoid hitting the deer. Officer Conley estimated the damages to the vehicle over $5000.

03/09/13 Residents in the 6100 block of South Hubeny Street reported that they lost their Beagle/Basset Hound pet. The dog is white with brown spots and has a blue/green dog collar. If the dog is located, contact the North Judson Police Department at 574-772-5914.

03/08/13 Police responded to a vandalism complaint at the North Judson-San Pierre High School. A 2003 red Ford Mustang was scratched while in the parking lot. This incident is still being investigated.

03/08/13 Police responded to a complaint of 10-12 male juveniles throwing snowballs at vehicles in the area of the new firehouse. Chief Doug Vessely arrived and the juveniles stated to him, that they were having a snowball fight across Main Street. Chief Vessely advised the juveniles to stay on the same side of the street.

03/07/13 A resident in the 800 block of Clinton Street reported that his temporary license plate was stolen of his vehicle.

03/06/13 – North Judson Police responded to a property damage accident in the North Judson Industrial Park. The mailbox owned by Johnny On The Spot was backed over by a semi. When North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrived, the driver of the semi stated that his company would pay to have the mailbox replaced. The owner of Johnny On The Spot was advised to call the North Judson Police Department if payment for the mailbox was not made.

03/04/13 A resident in the 400 block of Keller Avenue reported that her ex-husband is harassing her and her new boyfriend by calling and texting them.

03/04/13 A resident from Plymouth came to the North Judson Police Department to report her husband and her were involved in a verbal argument in Plymouth. The husband came to stay with family and gave them some items to payoff a debt. The female was advised that it was a civil matter.

03/04/13 North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley performed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After a brief investigation, the passenger of the vehicle Robert Lee VanDrunen III, 24, of Boone Grove was arrested on a Marshall County Warrant for Failure to Appear.

03/07/13 Arthur Marion Campbell, 48, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on a Cass County warrant for Neglect of a Dependent.

03/05/13 – A woman told police she had been punched in the back of the head by a male subject in the 300 West block of White Street in San Pierre.

03/05/13 – Police learned that a female subject had reportedly been attacked by a male subject in the 1800 block of East 250 South in Knox.

03/05/13 – Reedie Jordan Shepherd, 23 of Michigan City, told police that he had been run off the road by an unknown subject.

03/05/13 – A woman told police her juvenile daughter said she had been raped several weeks ago by a 17-year-old boy that had been staying with them.

03/07/13 – Rose Stephani of Walkerton told police that someone had stolen medication from her home.

03/07/13 – A resident of the 3500 South block of English Lake Road in North Judson reported that two male subjects claiming to be from American Publishers Clearinghouse have been constantly calling his home phone and his wife’s cell phone.

03/10/13 – A resident of the 2300 block of South 700 East in Knox told police that he had been firing a gun at his parent’s home and the neighbor began firing at him.

03/11/13 – A theft was reported at the storage units on U.S. 35 in Knox.

03/12/13 – A domestic battery was reported in the 2500 block of East Toto Road in Knox.

03/12/13 – A woman in the 2100 block of North State Road 23 in Grovertown told police that she had been contacted by a man claiming to be with her insurance who wanted to discuss her Medicare.

03/12/13 – Joe Short of Knox reported that someone had stole the stereo from his 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Arrests:

03/05/13 – Nichole Ranee Willford-Stroobandt, 20, of North Judson was found in possession of clonazepam, a narcotic drug, while being searched for jail intake.

03/07/13 – Christopher J.Madsen, 39 of North Judson, was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated in the area of 400 South and U.S. 421.

Joseph Lee Fletcher, 46 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Driving While Suspended.

03/03/13 A resident on 575 West notified police that a dog was on her property that was hit by a car and needs medical attention.

03/03/13 A Star City resident called police to report that someone slashed her niece’s tire.

03/02/13 A complaintant advised that her car was parked at the Star City Bar and Grill overnight and someone hit it.

03/01/13 A man called to tell police that his wife hit a patch of ice and slid off the road. No damage was done to the vehicle – just some grass in the rims. No injuries were reported.

03/01/13 A Star City resident told police that someone went around a bus on the road and slid off the road and got stuck.

03/01/13 Two mailbox incident were reported on 400 South in Winamac.

03/01/13 A mailbox incident was reported on 100 South in Winamac.

03/01/13 Winamac Police received a call of a reckless driver. The driver told police that he completed a double shift at Tyson and was fatigued. He was on his way home when police conducted a traffic stop.

02/28/13 A caller reported a scam call. She said someone posing as her great grandson called needing help but she could not provide the things “he” was asking for. She did not give the caller any information and reported the call to police.

02/28/13 An intoxicated man allegedly threatened a member of the Department of Child Services.

02/25/13 Winamac Police Department investigated an accident where Jamie Sheets, 39, hit a parked car, and continued traveling until she struck a tree and garage at a home at 202 N. Riverside Drive. It was later determined that Sheets suffered a heart attack prior to the accident. She was pronounced dead at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

02/25/13 A resident on 25 S. said two people have the hood up on one of her husband’s trucks and is stealing something.

02/25/13 A call came in about male subjects in a white van attempting to sell meat.

03/02/13 A resident reported that a theft occurred at the Highland Cemetery when items were stolen from her husband’s gravesite. She requested extra patrols.

03/02/13 Police responded to a couple of animal complaints in the 300 block of North George street. The complaints are being investigated.

02/27/13 Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Ray’s Super Foods. North Judson Officer Darren Conley arrived and after a brief investigation found that Heidi Lynn Myers, 35, of Winamac, was in possession of items that she did not pay for. Officer Conley filed charges of Theft against her through the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office. Heidi was released from the scene.

02/26/13 Police responded to an animal complaint in the 700 block of Laurel Street. The resident in question was advised of the complaint.

02/26/13 A Battery and Theft complaint was filed by residents in the 200 block of West Weninger Street. North Judson Police Officer Chris Kisela completed a report and filed it with the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office requesting formal charges filed for Battery and Theft on a 19-year-old male.

02/25/13 The North Judson Police Department responded to a property damage accident on State Road 10 near Highland Cemetery. A vehicle driven by Rebecca Barcus, of North Judson, struck a deer. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas estimated the damage over $1000.

02/27/13 – A resident of the 2800 block of South Lart Lane in Knox told police that the occupants of a white van were pounding on her door.

03/01/13 – Taras Nykoriak told police that someone had broken into one of his buildings in Knox, stole items, and caused damage to the building.

03/03/13 – Police received a frantic phone call from a woman who was crying and screaming, telling police a man was on top of her attacking her. Dispatch reportedly heard the male scream and the phone disconnected. An officer responded and reportedly learned no physical violence had taken place. The parties were separated.

03/04/13 – Medication was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 3900 block of South East Drive in Knox.

03/04/13 – Copper was reportedly stolen from a bank-owned home in the 10500 block of East State Road 23 in Walkerton.

02/23/13 The Winamac Police Department is investigating a report that a 23-year-old woman may have ingested something in her drink which caused her to stop breathing. She was taken to Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

02/23/13 A truck pulled a trailer into a driveway and tore up the driveway trying to get out. It was still stuck in the driveway at the time the caller reported it to police.

02/23/13 A two vehicle accident occurred in front of the Good Oil Company. No injuries were reported.

02/22/13 A man was arrested after he was awoken from a nap. He was inside his car off the side of the road and a passerby thought he may have been in an accident, but when emergency personnel came upon the vehicle, the driver, Joshua Slavens, was just sleeping. A deputy later pulled him over and arrested him for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

02/22/13 Police were advised that a suspect was dumping trash. The suspect was told to clean up the trash and to cease the activity.

02/22/13 The driver of a Fed Ex truck told police he slid off the road. No injuries were reported.

02/22/13 A caller reported a possible drunk driver on U.S. 35.

Officer Conley finally caught up to the vehicle and performed a traffic stop at County Road 800 S. and County Road 600 W. The driver of the vehicle, David B. 02/16/13 A passerby reported to police of a possible structure fire in the 200 block of West Weninger Street. The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was called to the scene and the firefighters extinguished the fire. The resident was not home at the time of the fire. The structure was a total loss. No injuries were reported. The Fire Department was called back out to the residence later in the day for a rekindle. Starke County EMS was on standby at the scene.

02/15/13 A man told police that his neighbor threatened to kill one of his horses.

02/15/13 North Judson police responded to a juvenile complaint in the 300 block of Franklin Street. The parent was advised of her options and services available.

02/15/13 A resident in the 700 block of Main Street said that she received a harassing phone call from a former acquaintance. The resident was advised that a log entry would be made of the incident.

02/14/13 A traffic stop resulted in the driver of the vehicle, Nathan Riley White, 33, of Knox, being cited for Driving while Suspended with a Prior conviction.

02/12/13 A resident in the 100 block of Arlington Avenue reported a suspicious person knocking at the door. Police arrived and located the female that was complaining of back pain, stomach pain and hearing voices. Starke County EMS was called and the female was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

02/12/13 A resident in the 600 block of Cherry Street told police that his wife was walking their dog on their property when a man in a vehicle pulled over on the street and started cussing at his wife. The officer arrived, but was unable to locate the vehicle.

02/16/13 Andy Odle, the instructor of the SCILL Center’s welding class in Knox, told police that test plates and two 50 pound spools of welding wires were stolen. Police continue to investigate this incident.

02/15/13 Zach Whitfield reported a hit and run. The day before, he noticed a white vehicle performing a U-turn close to where his vehicle was parked and didn’t think the person hit it, but when he looked at his vehicle the day of the report, he noticed damage to the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

02/15/13 Calvin Rudd told police that he owns two property lots and two small “for sale” signs were found ripped in half on the property.

02/15/13 Matthew Day reported the theft of a license plate. Police had pulled him over for having the wrong license plate on his vehicle and was taken to the jail. He filed a report that another license plate was placed on his vehicle rather than the plate that is registered to his vehicle.

02/09/13 A slide off accident was reported in the 14000 West block of 1000 south in Francesville. Driver told police he was distracted as he was rounding the curve and slid off the road. No injuries were reported.

02/09/13 A suspicious vehicle was seen in the parking lot at the Pulaski County Recycling Center.

02/09/13 Jasper County requested the assistance of the Medaryville Fire Department for a large fire with an explosion. They believe that the illegal material is being burned.

02/09/13 Sherli Simousek of North Judson told police that she struck a deer on State Road 10 near the intersection of 100 West.

02/07/13 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely compiled an accident report in which Annette Marlow of North Judson backed her Chevy Blazer into a parked Pepsi truck, waiting to unload product in the Dollar General parking lot. No injuries occurred and damages were set at under $1,000.

02/06/13 Two reports of noise complaints were received close to 11:00 p.m. A loud music complaint was reported on Mulberry Street, which was rectified and shortly after a barking dog complaint on N. George Street. The owners were notified to keep the animal quiet.

02/05/13 Around 11:10 AM, police were informed of a drive off from Carpenter’s Oil Company. A white van obtained a tank of gasoline and failed to pay. Two witnesses gave details of the male subject driving the vehicle and the investigation continues.

02/04/13 Shaun Russell of San Pierre was driving west on State Road 10 near 250 West when a deer crossed his path and he struck the animal. North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas investigated the accident and estimated damages at over $1,000.

02/04/13 Police were contacted in reference to a reckless driving complaint on Vine Street. The driver was later identified and contacted.

02/04/13 A two-vehicle property damage accident occurred on South Luken Street, when Lacy Miller, of North Judson, was backing out of a driveway. A southbound vehicle being driven by Gabriella Didonna, also of North Judson, was unable to avoid striking Miller’s 2000 Buick Sedan. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely estimated the damages at over $2,500 and noted that unsafe backing was the primary cause of the accident. No injuries were reported.

Hit-and-run victim hospitalized in Indianapolis

A 19-year-old man is hospitalized in Indianapolis after a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning outside a LaPorte business.
Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Tely’s Nightclub on SR 2 W. around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. They found two men sitting in the parking lot holding the victim, who was bleeding severely from his head. The teen was initially taken to the local hospital before being airlifted to Indianapolis for treatment of severe head trauma.
Witnesses initially told police they saw a dark colored vehicle performing “donuts” around the victim who was walking in the parking lot. The vehicle struck the victim and fled west bound through the Kmart parking lot.
Police later learned that a white Cadillac Escalade or similar vehicle may have been involved instead.

02/01/13 A traffic stop resulted in a state traffic citation for Adam B. Lovely, 25, of Westville, IN for a Driving While Suspended Infraction.

01/31/13 Juanita L. Conley, 26, of North Judson was issued a state traffic citation for False and Fictitious Vehicle Registration and for Driving While Suspended Infraction, after a traffic stop conducted by the North Judson Police.

01/30/13 A neighbor dispute in the 800 Block of Clinton Avenue was reported to the North Judson Police regarding a kitten. Police spoke with all parties involved.

01/30/13 The Town of North Judson Water Department reported to police that a resident in the 400 Block of Lincoln Avenue had turned a shut-off water meter, back on. Water consumption was reported. North Judson Police conducted an investigation and a full report was issued to the Starke County Prosecutor requesting formal theft charges. The meter was pulled from the location.

01/30/13 After a traffic stop was conducted by the North Judson Police the driver, Sescoe Wireman, 76, of North Judson, was issued a false and fictitious registration state citation and a passenger, Tiffany M. Witham, 30, of Winamac was arrested on a Pulaski County warrant for Failure to Appear. The vehicle was impounded.

01/29/13 The North Judson Police Department responded to an unwanted guest complaint in the 200 block of Lane Street. The resident requested that a family member be asked to leave. The female left the residence without incident.

01/29/13 Police investigated a harassment incident at the North Judson-San Pierre High School involving a juvenile student.

01/28/13 A resident reported a loose dog in the 300 block of Schricker Avenue. A family member captured and placed the dog in the house.

01/25/13 A report was made of telephone harassment in the 600 Block of Keller Avenue.

01/25/13 During two separate traffic stops conducted by North Judson Police, both drivers were driving while suspended. Laura L Boule, of Winamac, and Patrico Guardiola, of North Judson, were both issued state uniform traffic tickets.

01/24/13 Police investigated three traffic accidents during Thursday’s early morning snowfall. The first, a single car accident, occurred around 5:50 a.m. CT and was covered by North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner. North Judson resident Vincent Valdez, driving a 2009 Toyota, was applying his brakes to make a right hand turn onto Sheridan Avenue from Talmer Avenue, when his vehicle began to slide off of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Budner estimated damages near $2,500. A little later in the morning, Madison Osborne of North Judson was traveling east on State Road 10 when she came across a patch of ice and snow and her vehicle began to fishtail. The vehicle spun backwards into a ditch near 5300 W State Road 10. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely estimated this single vehicle accident at over $2,500 damages, as well. The third accident, reported at 9:40 a.m. CT, involved Michael Korous, who was plowing snow in the Burger King parking lot. When the snow plow was backing up, Aaron Ingram was driving east bound in the alley. The two vehicles collided. Police Chief Vessely set damages at over $5,000. The roadway surface played a role in all three incidents. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

01/22/13 A woman visiting the North Judson area reported that she either lost or had her wallet stolen from her vehicle. The wallet contained some personal items, driver’s license and cash. Anyone finding this or has knowledge of the missing wallet is urged to contact the North Judson Police at (574) 772-5914.

01/22/13 A man in the 5000 block of 250 West reported to North Judson Police that his vehicle had been keyed either when it was parked in town or early in the morning hours while it was parked at home. Damaged was estimated by Chief Doug Vessely at near $500.

01/22/13 Two subjects from the LaPorte area were going door-to-door on George Street collecting money to help pay for their niece’s funeral in LaPorte. They were advised by North Judson Police that they could not do solicitation door-to-door without a permit and advised to leave the area. They were also told they needed permission to place a can in any area businesses from the business.

01/21/13 North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley conducted a traffic stop on a Black Dodge Avenger being driven by Randy Bishop of Winamac. After a short investigation, Bishop was arrested for Driving while Suspended Prior and for no proof of insurance. He was also given two traffic citations for False and Fictitious registration and one for expired registration.

01/16/13 A Pomeranian had to be put to sleep after receiving injuries in an attack. Two pit bull dogs reportedly viciously attacked it. The owner was told that the pit bull was being impounded and was given a citation for owning a vicious dog.

01/15/13 Knox police were notified of a woman having a seizure in the Henry F. Schricker Public Library and that the woman was in possession of a handgun. Officers confiscated the weapon. They later found that she had a permit to carry a handgun and it would be given back to her when she was released from the hospital.

01/15/13 Floyd Reed told police that some unknown person(s) struck and damaged a fence belonging to him. The suspect(s) also reportedly went through his back yard and struck a tree stump. The driver did not report the incident to Reed or law enforcement.

A vehicle driven by Sherry Boisvert was backing out of a parking space. At the same time, a vehicle driven by Kerry Rust was pulling into a parking space. The vehicles collided. Chief Deputy Joe Budner, estimated the damages over $1,000.00.

01/17/13 An officer performed a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in the 300 block of W. Talmer Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, Mitchell R. Williams, 48, of North Judson, was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. Williams was issued an Information and Summons to appear in Knox City Court.

01/17/13 North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley responded to a vehicle in a ditch on State Road 10 east of Oakwood Street. The vehicle was partially submerged in water. The driver of the vehicle Amy L. Hawk, 31, of Huntingberg, Indiana, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Possession of a Controlled substance.

01/15/13 Police responded to the 100 block of Lane Street in reference to a stray dog. The dog was located and transported to the Starke County Humane Society.

01/15/13 The North Judson Police Department responded to a reckless driving complaint on State Road 10 East of U.S. Hwy 421. The officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.

01/15/13 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic infraction. After a brief investigation, one of the passengers in the vehicle was found to be wanted. David S. Miller, 45, of North Judson, was arrested on a Knox City Court Warrant for Failure to Appear.

01/14/13 A resident in the 600 block of E. Arlington Avenue reported to North Judson Police that a known acquaintance stole her identity. All of the crimes took place in South Bend, Indiana. She was advised to contact the South Bend Police Department to file a report.

01/14/13 A resident in the 200 block of Hancock Street requested assistance from the North Judson Police Department in reference to their elderly family dog has become very aggressive. North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas responded and assisted the resident in placing the dog in the resident’s vehicle to be transported to a veterinarian.

01/13/13 North Judson police responded to a single vehicle traffic accident at State Road 10 and 300 West. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrived at the scene and observed a gray Ford Ranger on its passenger side in the ditch facing west. After a brief investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Julia A. Joseph, 40, was found to be intoxicated. The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Dwayne K. Frasure was also intoxicated. Both subjects refused medical attention at the scene. Julia A. Joseph was arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Dwayne K. Frasure was arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication. Chief Vessely estimated the damage to the vehicle over $1000.00.The North Judson Police Department was assisted by Starke county EMS and the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department.

01/20/13 – A resident of the 2800 block of North State Road 23 in Grovertown told police that someone had tried to steal her farm truck from their driveway and ripped out the wires from her dashboard.

01/13/13 Police were called to a residence on 400 South in reference to a break-in.

01/13/13 Officers responded to a slide-off. The vehicle had two flat tires and it went into the ditch. The driver was not injured.

01/13/13 A Francesville resident called police to report that her grandson slid off the road and hit a culvert and a sign. No injuries were reported.

01/13/13 A call came into the Sheriff’s Department about shots fired.

01/13/13 A Winamac resident told police he slid off the roadway . The vehicle pulled out and left the scene.

01/12/13 A Winamac man asked a conservation officer to call him as he found tree stands on his property.

01/12/13 A Winamac woman told police that she believes her neighbor stole some items out of her storage unit.

01/12/13 A Winamac woman reported her truck stolen. When police investigated, they found the truck, but her items were found stacked outside the door of the residence. Police continue to investigate this incident.

01/11/13 Winamac police were called to a building on Washington Street where a call came in about a door kicked in and a window broken out of the structure.

01/11/13 A stolen package was reported to police. The woman said that the post office left the package on her grill and someone reportedly stole the package.

01/10/13 A Medaryville man told officers that someone stole checks and cashed them.

01/08/13 An employee with a tree trimming company was threatened by the homeowner after the employee arrived at the home to complete a job.

01/08/13 A landlord complained about a tenant filling up a dumpster and not leaving room for any of the other tenants to use it.

01/08/13 A Winamac man told police that he lost some items off his truck and they landed in the roadway. The debris reportedly caused flat tires on several vehicles. U.S. 35 was shut down while the debris was cleared.

01/07/13 A Winamac resident called police after some unknown person(s) broke into his home.

01/07/13 Windows were broken out of a Francesville building on U.S. 421 during the middle of the night.

01/07/13 Mailbox damage was reported by a Winamac resident.

01/07/13 A Winamac man called police to report an accident. He was not injured, but his truck rolled over in a ditch. He was in the process of moving items when the accident happened and he was attempting to gather his belongings.

Incidents:
01/13/13 Police responded to a single vehicle traffic accident at State Road 10 and 300 West. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrived at the scene and observed a pick-up on its passenger side in the ditch facing west. After a brief investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Julia A. Joseph, 40, was found to be intoxicated. The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Dwayne K. Frasure, was also intoxicated. Both subjects refused medical attention at the scene. Julia A. Joseph was arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Dwayne K. Frasure was arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication. Chief Vessely estimated the damage to the vehicle as over $1,000.00. The North Judson Police Department was assisted by Starke County EMS and the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department.

01/12/13 Police were notified of a loose dog in the area of the 300 Block of Garden Street. The dog was not located.

01/12/13 A neighbor reported a suspicious person had entered a home in the 700 Block of E. Talmer Avenue. Police responded and learned it was a company checking on the abandoned property for the mortgage company.

01/10/13 Frank Rossi of Valparaiso, IN was traveling north on State Road #39 when a deer crossed his path near 400 South. He struck the animal. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas investigated the accident and estimated damage at near $1,000. No citations or injuries were reported.

01/10/13 A report of damage to a garage door in the 200 Block of Garden Street was taken by officers. It is believed someone was trying to gain entry to the garage.

01/08/13 Police responded to a report of two female shoplifters at the Dollar General. The suspects had left the area prior to police arriving. The suspect vehicle was located and both people were banned from the store. No merchandise was located.

01/08/13 Police received a call of a Jeep that had struck a pole on Talmer Avenue near Ono Drive. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely responded and the vehicle had been moved. After a brief investigation, Randy Morgan of North Judson was arrested for preliminary charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident causing Damage and for Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated. The Jeep was impounded and Morgan was jailed. He was also issued two citations, one for Open Container of Alcohol and for a False and Fictitious Registration. The Jeep had struck a utility pole and a fire hydrant. Chief Vessely estimated the damages at over $5,000. No injuries were reported.

01/07/13 After a complaint of a parked vehicle in downtown North Judson was received, police found that it was a stolen vehicle. The 2000 Chevrolet was reported to the Starke County Sheriff as being taken from a Knox residence. The vehicle was impounded and returned to the owners.

01/12/13 Roy Farris told police that when he returned to his apartment, he found his front door open and his patio door open. He said $3.00 in change was missing, along with a liter of Pepsi and a cake from the refrigerator. Police noted that minimal damage was seen on the door. This incident remains under investigation.

01/11/13 Jerry Dunn reported the theft of a rechargeable Craftsman 19.2 volt flashlight with two batteries and the charger.

01/10/13 An accident occurred at Main Street and Culver Road. Marla Krulik told police that she accidentally released her foot from the brake pedal and ran into the vehicle in front of her, driven by Rebecca Lovins. Minor damage was reported. Damage was less than $1,000.

01/09/13 Michael Jordan told police that his wife, Amber, was supposed to receive a Walmart card in the mail from her father but her father addressed it to another address and it was never forwarded. The card was used and this case remains under investigation.

Incidents:
01/03/13 North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not use its turn signal at an intersection. The driver of the vehicle, Spencer Ward Allen, 21, of Winamac, was arrested for driving with a suspended/prior driver’s license. The vehicle was released to a relative and Spencer Allen was transported to the Starke County Jail without incident.

01/03/13 Police responded to a custody dispute in the 800 block of Clinton Street. The father Zachary S. Wright, 28, wanted to take the children and the mother refused. After a brief investigation, Officer Darren Conley arrested Zachary on two Starke County Bench Warrants for Failure To Appear. The initial charges were for Check Deception.

01/02/13 Officers responded to a complaint of an unwanted guest in the 100 block of Main Street. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrived and advised the guest, David Watts, that if he returns he would be arrested for Criminal Trespass. Watts complied and left without incident.

01/02/13 A complaint of an unwanted guest in the 400 block of East Talmer Avenue was handled by the North Judson Police Department. The store employee told North Judson Officer Darren Conley that the subject had been in the store for over two hours.

12/31/12 The North Judson Police Department is investigating a vandalism complaint to a building belonging to Norwayne Lumber. The building is located across from the brickyard. If anyone has information in regards to the investigation, please contact the North Judson Police Department at (574) 772-5914.

12/31/12 Officers responded to a head-on collision on Franklin Street south of Sycamore Street. A pick up truck driven by James Thomas, 46, of North Judson, collided with a passenger car driven by Daniel Zimmerman, 22, of North Judson, in the northbound lane. Both Thomas and Zimmerman refused medical attention at the scene. The two passengers in Zimmerman’s vehicle, Mitch Williams of North Judson and Bridgett Williams also of North Judson, were injured in the collision. Both were transported by Starke County EMS to IU Health Starke Hospital. The damage was estimated at over $5,000 by North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner, who investigated the crash. North Judson Police was assisted at the scene by Starke County EMS and the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department.

12/31/12 North Judson Police responded to a personal injury accident at the intersection of East Talmer Avenue (State Road 10) and Lane Street in the early evening. A passenger vehicle driven by Nancy Gum of North Judson pulled out onto Talmer Avenue from Wilson Street, in front of a westbound pick up truck driven by Gary Danekas also of North Judson. Both Gum and Danekas were transported to IU Health Starke Hospital for treatment and were released. The damage was estimated at over $5,000. North Judson police officers were assisted at the scene by Starke County EMS personnel, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.

12/31/12 Officers responded to a complaint of an unwanted guest in the 100 block of Main Street. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas asked a male subject to leave and not return. The male subject had a relative arrive and drive him home.

01/05/13 Douglas W. Beem, Jr. called police to report a theft. The battery was stolen from his vehicle. He also told police that the suspect(s) attempted to steal the stereo out of his vehicle.

Incidents:
12/29/12 Several officers responded to a “shots fired” call in the 5000 block of Wesley Street. A North Judson Officer was investigating another incident when he heard the shots. Officers from Starke County, Knox, Hamlet and DNR responded. Starke County Sheriff deputies took the lead investigation. After a probe into the incident, several weapons were seized and a complete report was furnished to the Starke County Prosecutor for formal charges of Criminal Recklessness.

12/28/12 Police were called in reference to an unwanted guest in the 200 Block of Garden Street. When North Judson police arrived, the suspect was gone. A report was made later in reference to harassing telephone calls. The suspect was located and advised to stop all contact with the complaintant.

12/28/12 Police were informed of a minor property damage accident at the Good-to-Go gas pumps. Randy Robb of North Judson was pulling into the lot to get fuel when his vehicle slid into a guard post as he was approaching the gas pumps. North Judson Officer Todd Keen investigated the incident and estimated damages at over $1,000. No injuries were reported.

12/28/12 A late night traffic stop in the parking lot of the Dollar General in North Judson resulted in a uniform traffic ticket for Driving while Suspended. Casey J. White, 20, of Kingsford Heights, was ticketed.

12/28/12 Police are investigating a hit and run accident in where an unknown vehicle struck a street lamp in the 200 block of Lane Street. The lamppost was toppled and the lens and bulb broken. This remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the North Judson Police at (574) 772-5914.

12/26/12 Police responded to a traffic accident on U.S. 421 just south of State Road 10 East. Due to a large number of accidents and slide-offs in the area because of the weather and roadway conditions, North Judson covered this accident. Sheila Haddock of Fowler, IN, reported to Chief Deputy Joe Budner that she was northbound on U.S. 421 when she slid on a patch of ice, sliding off of the roadway and striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported and Budner estimated the total dollar amount of damages at over $5,000.

12/26/12 A weather-related slide-off on State Road 10, just east of Oakwood Street, did little or damage to the vehicle. North Judson Police reported no injuries as well. The vehicle was towed.

12/26/12 Another property damage accident occurred in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store in North Judson. The incident resulted in less than $750.00 in damage and no injuries were reported. It was weather related.

12/25/12 A resident in the 600 block of Laurel Street requested assistance in getting a cat out of the area of the engine compartment of their vehicle.

12/24/12 Police responded to an animal complaint in the 300 Block of Lincolnway Street. The dog was back in the home when police arrived.

12/24/12 A late evening traffic stop by the North Judson Police at the intersection of Leslie and Wilson Streets resulted in a uniform traffic ticket being issued for improper license plates and false and fictitious registration to Lacy Miller, 36, of North Judson. The vehicle was impounded.

Incidents:
12/23/12 A wandering dog was reportedly spotted in the 400 Block of Garfield Avenue.

12/23/12 Police investigated a fender bender in the Dollar General parking lot. Chief Deputy Joe Budner estimated damages under $750.00 and no formal report was made.

12/21/12 A Knox resident reported to police that she left her purse at Subway. The purse was located and all of the items were still in the purse.

12/19/12 Police took a report of intimidation.

12/19/12 An off-duty North Judson officer saw a wanted person at a local business and contacted the North Judson officer on duty. Officer Darren Conley arrived. John Schacht, 51, of San Pierre, was arrested on a Porter County warrant for being a Habitual Traffic Violator.

12/18/12 Good To Go reported a drive-off of $40.01. This incident is still being investigated.

12/18/12 Officers were called to the 300 block of Lane Street in reference to a pizza on fire. The fire was put out by the resident before the officer arrived.

12/18/12 – A Mishawaka resident contacted the North Judson Police in reference to a stolen vintage moped of hers that is being sold on Craigslist. The North Judson resident, that was selling the moped, advised Officer Frank Thomas that he bought it at an auction house. This incident is still under investigation, however the moped was recovered.

12/17/12 A resident in the 100 block of East Sycamore Street told police that someone removed her outdoor Christmas decorations. The decorations were left laying on the ground. The resident requested extra patrols.

12/17/12 – A theft of an iPhone was reported to the North Judson Police. The theft occurred at the NJ-SP high school. This incident is still being investigated.

12/19/12 John J. Schacht, 51, 305 White Street, San Pierre, IN, arrested on a Porter County warrant for being a Habitual Traffic Violator.

12/16/12 Bradley Austin, 22, 308 Lincoln St., North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operator Never Licensed.

12/26/12 Pulaski County officers responded to several slide-off reports due to a snow storm.

12/26/12 One man was injured after his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a pole north of the White County line. No power lines were down and the pole was intact but beat up. Another accident reported later did involve downed power lines on State Road 14, but the driver was not injured.

12/26/12 A Medaryville man was attempting to hunt on his property but he told police that two subjects on four-wheelers were scaring off the deer. The four-wheelers were not allowed on his property.

12/25/12 A Pulaski County officer went to a local business to advise them they are not allowed to sell alcohol on Christmas Day.

12/24/12 A Winamac man told police that he has a construction company and some unknown person(s) broke into one of the trailers in which he stores his equipment.

12/24/12 A caller advised that a pit bull just mauled the neighbor’s dog. The dog has also chased a lady back to her house.

12/24/12 Several car vs deer accidents were reported.

12/23/12 A Winamac resident told police that some unknown person(s) attempted to break into her home.

12/22/12 The Winamac Police Department were called to a two vehicle accident. One of the people involved in the accident said the vehicle hit his vehicle on the passenger side and his wife isn’t doing too well.

12/22/12 Dollar General reported the theft of items from the store.

12/22/12 An employee with Ace Hardware reported the theft of lye.

12/21/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to assist in a structure fire with explosions.

12/21/12 The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was called to an accident on U.S. 421. Injuries were reported. Officer advised that the highway should be closed down due to the icy conditions.

12/21/12 Several slide-offs and accidents were reported due to a storm in the area.

12/21/12 A vehicle went off the road and into the cemetery in Francesville. The vehicle hit a number of headstones.

12/20/12 A caller told police that she was home alone and something smells hot. The caller was told get out of the residence. The Winamac Fire Department was called to the scene.

12/20/12 A Winamac resident told police that his mail carrier told him that his garage door was open and the front door is open also. Officers arrived at the scene and described the scene to the caller. The caller said that maybe the person watching the house just didn’t close the doors.

12/20/12 A resident in Winamac reported the theft of computers and other items. He said the items were stolen when the family was a funeral.

Incidents:
12/16/12 A resident told officers that he was backing out of the Burger King drive thru and did not see a pole. The driver backed into the pole and damaged his vehicle. The damage was estimated at over $1,000.

12/16/12 North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a lane violation. As Officer Conley was approaching the driver side of the vehicle, the driver, Austin Bradley, 22, advised that he did not have a driver’s license. Officer Conley issued a Knox City Court Summons to Austin Bradley, for never obtaining a driver’s license. The vehicle was released to a valid driver.

12/15/12 The North Judson Police responded to a shots fired report in the 300 block of Vine Street. The subject with the weapon was not located. North Judson Police continue to investigate the incident.

12/14/12 Police are investigating a intimidation report stemming from an incident at the Burger King Parking lot late Friday afternoon.

12/13/12 While on patrol, police found a motorcycle helmet near the area of the railroad tracks on Main Street. The owner can claim this item by describing it.

12/13/12 A resident in the 600 Block of Keller Avenue reported to police that she was receiving harassing telephone calls over some items a tenant had left behind.

12/12/12 A resident in the 300 Block of Garden Street told police that she heard a small explosion and the power went out. NIPSCO responded to the area for a transformer problem.

Incidents:

12/3/12 – A resident reported being chased by a loose dog in the 700 Block of Arlington Avenue.  The North Judson Police located the animal’s owner and corrected the problem.

12/4/12 – The North Judson Police responded to a drive off at the Good to Go on Talmer Avenue.  The unknown suspect pumped $47.01 in gasoline and failed to pay and fled the parking lot.  This remains under investigation.

12/4/12 – An harassment dispute was reported to the North Judson Police on Luken Street near Main Street.  Several parties were involved and all were advised to clear the area and not to make contact with each other..

12/6/12 – A shoplifting report was made with the North Judson Police in the 700 Block of Talmer Avenue involving a theft of a $48.00 flashlight.  This incident also remain under investigation.

12/7/12 – North Judson Police responded to an unwanted guest in the 400 Block of Main Street.  The suspect had left the area and was not located.

12/8/12 – A report of a domestic battery was taken at the North Judson Police station, while the other party called the Starke County Sheriff’s Department to the 2000 block of Donna Street.  Both North Judson Officer Frank Thomas and Starke County Sheriff Officer Rob Gray investigated the incident.

12/9/12 – A home owner in the 100 Block of E. Sycamore Street reported to North Judson Police that their Christmas Decorations were rearranged and vandalized sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Incidents:
12/01/12 Officers handled a suicidal subject call where a young man had stabbed himself in the neck with an object. The 24-year-old male was detained on a 72 hour emergency hold and transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

12/01/12 Another resident reported to officers that unknown subject[s] had squirted ketchup onto the front door and porch area of a home in the 300 Block of Hancock Street.

12/01/12 After a traffic stop in the North Judson area, a 16-year-old male passenger was detained and returned to his parents by the North Judson when it was discovered that he had consumed some alcoholic beverages.

11/30/12 North Judson Police responded to a call concerning a personal property dispute in the 400 Block of Keller Avenue.

11/30/12 Officers received a complaint of a broken front window at a storage building at 110 N. Jones St. A cinder block had been thrown through the glass window. No entry was made and no items were reported missing. This remains under investigation.

11/30/12 Neighbors reported a silver Acura vehicle that had passed a school bus arm that was stopped in the 4800 Block of State Road 10. This was in the afternoon when the bus was taking children home after the school day. Extra patrols were requested.

11/27/12 Another complaint was filed from residents in the 500 Block of Keller Avenue in reference to a dog running loose and defecating on neighbors properties. One report stated the animal’s owner walked the dog on a leash and allowed the dog to defecate on a neighbor’s property. In either case, the Town of North Judson has an ordinance against this. The dog owner is responsible for cleaning up after their animal when the animal relieves itself on any property, other than on the owner’s property.

11/27/12 While on patrol, police located a vacant home at 502 Crystal Street that had been vandalized. Windows were broken and interior walls were damaged. Anyone with information concerning this senseless crime is asked to call the North Judson Police Department at (574) 772-5914.

11/26/12 A resident in the 6500 Block of 375 West called the North Judson Police in reference to a stray dog described as a black lab and pit mix. The animal was picked up and taken to the Starke County Humane Society. The dog had no tags, collar or a chip.

11/29/12 Cody J. Barnette, 19, 5017 South 275 West, of North Judson, IN was arrested on a Starke County Warrant for Revocation of Bond and a preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement.

11/28/12 John McGrath reported criminal damage done to his rental property. The inside frame to the front door to the property was laying on the floor just inside the entryway. Two TVs were reportedly missing from the house.

11/25/12 A Star City man told police that someone hit his car and drove away from the scene. The incident happened in the overnight hours.

11/24/12 Police responded to a rollover accident on U.S. 421 north of Francesville but the driver indicated that he is fine.

11/22/12 Officers pulled over a suspicious vehicle and found the driver was wanted out of Vigo County.

11/22/12 Several car vs deer accidents were reported throughout the county.

11/21/12 A Winamac man told police that he is following a truck with occupants that stole scrap from him and they are allegedly driving back to the scene of the crime to return the items they reportedly stole. Police met them at the location and towed the vehicle. Charges are pending.

11/21/12 Police were called to a domestic dispute that was later diffused.

11/20/12 The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was called to a two vehicle accident at 1000 South and State Road 39 in Winamac. Multiple injuries were reported. One of the vehicles was a box truck that contained radioactive materials, but it did not break open.

11/19/12 The Winamac Fire Department was called to a dumpster fire.

11/19/12 The Winamac Police Department arrested on person after police engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect. Officers did taze the suspect to gain control and the suspect was arrested.

11/21/12 A business owner in the E. 900 block of Talmer Avenue reported damage to a rear window. It appears to be a act of vandalism.

11/20/12 Police received a call of a suspicious woman inside of a vehicle parked at the Town Park. Police located a 19-year-old female who was resting. She returned home as the parks are closed from dusk to dawn.

Incidents: 11/18/12 Police responded to a 911 call of a domestic dispute in the 300 Block of Franklin Street in the early morning hours. Chief Deputy Joe Budner responded and after an initial investigation with assistance from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and the Knox City Police, the suspect, Jeffery L. Jacobs, was located and arrested. He was arrested for Domestic Battery, Resisting Law Enforcement and Interfering with the Reporting of a Crime. He was incarcerated in the Starke County Jail awaiting formal charges.

11/18/12 A vehicle was located by police in a farmer’s field near 500 South and Elm Street. The owner of the vehicle was located and charges of criminal mischief are pending against the driver.

11/18/12 A drive off of $50.00 of gasoline was reported to the police by an employee at Carpenter’s Marathon on Talmer Avenue. The suspect was located.

11/18/12 A theft of a purse was reported to police around 11:00 p.m. A quick response and investigation lead to the recovery of the purse and an arrest. Arrested for theft was Clayton E. Hale, 26, of North Judson. Pending charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Felony Possession of Marijuana were placed against Hale as well.

11/17/12 A car vs. deer traffic accident was reported to North Judson Police Officer Darren Conley. Clayton J. Miller, of North Judson, reported striking a deer in the area of 250 South and State Road 39. No injuries were reported.

11/17/12 Vandals struck the old Army Reserve Center on Crystal Street. The unknown subject(s) spray-painted graffiti on the front entrance area.

11/17/12 A small child, 4 years of age, was found in the middle of Sycamore Street wearing only a t-shirt and a diaper. North Judson Police secured the boy. “He was taken, cleaned up and warmed up”, stated Chief Doug Vessely, “Fortunately. the child was not harmed”. Children’s Family Services [CFS] was contacted and an agent took possession of the child. A 911 missing child call was placed to the police department and the two calls were for the same child. CFS later returned the child to the parent. North Judson Office Darren Conley filed a complete report with the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office requesting formal child neglect charges against the parent.

11/16/12 Around 4:00 AM, police located a large water leak near Talmer Avenue and Main Street. The Street Department was notified and fixed the leak.

11/15/12 A report of a woman needing assistance on Lane Street was received by the police department. The woman was reportedly dealing with some mental issues.

11/15/12 A car vs. deer accident was reported just west of North Judson on State Road 10. Dawn M. Musall of Wheatfield struck a deer on State Road 10 near 750 West. No injuries were reported. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas conducted the investigation.

11/15/12 A Good to Go employee reported a drive-off to police. Within minutes, Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on E. Vine Street. After an investigation and interview, 25-year-old Michael E. Ruiz was charged with three counts of conversion.

11/14/12 North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner responded to a report of a battery in the 500 Block of Laurel Street. After taking a report, formal charges were requested through the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office on a 19-year-old male for Battery and Intimidation.

11/12/12 North Judson Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Luken and Leslie Street resulting in three uniform traffic tickets issued.

11/12/12 North Judson Police, as well as Medic One, responded to the 200 Block of Leslie Street in reference to a possible drug overdose. A 30-year-old woman was transported to Starke IU Health Starke Hospital.

11/11/12 – A Winamac resident told police that she received a fraudulent phone call advising her that she had won millions of dollars in prize money but she needs to give him $12.

11/12/12 – A caller from Winamac reported that someone had stolen items from his father’s home.

11/12/12 – Police were called to a Winamac businessin response to an unruly customer that was refusing to leave the store.

11/12/12 – A caller told police that a utility pole was on fire in Winamac.

11/13/12 – A Medaryville resident reported a vehicle had been tearing up the road in front of her residence and leaving ruts in her driveway.

11/13/12 – A Winamac resident told police that she can smell the strong odor of marijuana through the vents coming from a nearby apartment.

11/13/12 – A Francesville woman told police that her daughter had been physically assaulted while at school.

11/13/12 – A caller reported that a drunken man was staggering around the parking lot between Sanders and CVS in Winamac.

11/13/12 – A Winamac man told police that someone broke into his garage and stole his chainsaw.

11/13/12 – A burglar broke into a garage in Winamac and stole items.

11/13/12 – A caller from a Winamac business told police that two women had come in and used a stolen credit card to purchase items.
