Incidents:
07/10/11 A house fire was reported in Winamac.  The house was fully engulfed when the resident called in the report.

07/10/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a garden tractor and a buzz saw.

07/09/11 The Medaryville Fire Department responded to a house fire just before midnight.  They were called back to the scene as the fire rekindled at 3:30 a.m.

07/08/11 A Francesville resident reported a break-in.

07/08/11  The Francesville Fire Department responded to a house fire.

07/07/11  A roll over accident was reported in the Denham area.

07/07/11 The Winamac Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire.

07/07/11 A Monterey resident notified police that the previous renters at the location damaged electric lines and a meter.  NIPSCO is investigating the scene.

07/11/11 Chris Howard, 51, 5584 N. 575 W., Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle.  Discharged 07/11/11

07/10/11 Marla M. Freeman, 39, 1023 N. Monticello St., Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug.

07/10/11 Sean Birmingham, 26, 13340 Trailwood, Fisher, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.  Discharged 07/10/11

07/10/11 Jacob Dixon, 23, 2215 W. 700 S., North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Driving While Suspended-Prior.  Discharged 7/10/11

07/09/11 Tasia S. Oliver, 24, 5767 Fraser Ct., Indianapolis, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Driving While Suspended-Prior.  Discharged 07/09/11

07/09/11 Joe Watson, 47, 200 E. Aitken St., Fulton, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.  Discharged 07/09/11

07/09/11 Michelle Riley, 26, 11531 E. State Road 8, Culver, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Invasion of Privacy.

07/08/11 Roger Frinkel, Jr., 29, 3356 N. 1400 W., Medaryville, IN, arrested on a bench warrant.

07/08/11 Steven W. Dommer, 62, 1208 Buelah Vista Blvd., Valparaiso, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Trespassing.

07/06/11 Arnold Neeley, 48, 6286 N. US 421, Medaryville, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

07/06/11 Scott Cambern, 19, 5267 S. Holiday St., North Judson, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.  Discharged 07/07/11.

Incidents:
07/05/11  An employee at the North Judson Dollar General called police in reference to a shoplifter. The North Judson Police banned a 30-year-old female from the store for the incident at the request of the store.

07/03/11 North Judson Police responded to a vandalism complaint in the 6100 block of Oakwood Street. Unknown subjects had set fire to a mailbox and a newspaper delivery container.

North Judson Police responded to a myriad of fireworks complains over the July 4th holiday. Most of the complaints stemmed from the fireworks being ignited after hours and the debris falling onto neighbors’ yards. North Judson Chief Doug Vessely reminds all citizens the the use of fireworks is against the town ordinance after July 9th. The legal times are five days before and five days after the 4th, therefore no fireworks may be used now, until New Years Day. Violators could be given a $50.00 fine.

07/02/11 Police are investigating an incident involving several minors and the use of illegal drugs in the 300 block of Garden Street in North Judson.

07/02/11  The North Judson Police Department, after responding to a suspicious car parked a driveway behind 210 W. Jones Street, recovered a stolen vehicle from Winamac. North Judson Chief Doug Vessely investigated the incident and learned the 2004 Silver Chevy Impala was taken from a dealership on US 35 in Winamac, a few days before. Police had the vehicle impounded.

Arrests:
07/06/11  Melanie A. McGill, 38, 311 Garden Street, North Judson, IN,  arrested for a warrant for Failure to Appear in Starke Circuit Court.

07/06/11  Scott E. Cambern, 19, 5267 S. Holiday Street, North Judson, IN, arrested for a warrant for Fraud C Felony through Pulaski Circuit Court.  He was later booked into the Pulaski County Jail.

Knox City Police Chief Clint Norem

Incidents:
07/07/11 Lavotis French reported the theft of items from her home.

07/07/11 George Byer, Knox Parks Superintendent, reported a break-in at the storage shed at the Knox Skate Park. The unknown suspect(s) had removed the padlock from the entry. The only item reported missing was a bucket of deck screws. The suspect(s) had also removed a metal boundary post from the ground and threw it away from its specific location.

07/06/11 A Walgreens employee called police to report that a young male subject grabbed a case of pop off the Pepsi truck while the driver was inside the store unloading pop for delivery. The subject was seen running from the truck but police were unable to catch the suspect. One case of one liter Mountain Dew bottles (approx. 15 bottles) valued at $30 was stolen.

07/06/11 Keith Brettin reported that $30 was stolen from his wallet that was in his vehicle. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the incident.

07/06/11 The owner of Mikey’s Pizza Pit Stop reported that two subjects ate food at his restaurant and left the establishment without paying.

07/07/11 David Alan Delossantos, Jr., 22, 410 Main St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Theft.

07/05/11 Gordon Carl Schieb, Jr., 37, 107 S. Shield St., Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Stalking and Harassment.

07/05/11 James K. Carpenter, 76, 4001 S. Boa, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with at least a .08% BAC.

Accidents:
07/08/11 At 3:45 p.m., Knox City Police officers were called to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of US 35 and Culver Road. Kevin Woods, 48, of Knox, told police that he was driving northbound on US 35 crossing the intersection of Culver Road when he saw a vehicle driven by Grace Clapper, 65, of Walkerton, turn in his path of travel eastbound on Culver Road from US 35. Woods said he attempted to swerve but he was unable to avoid a collision. Clapper told police that she was turning on Culver Road when she observed Woods in her lane of travel. She said she was unable to avoid a collision. Woods was taken to IU Health Starke Hospital and treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

Incidents:
07/10/11 A Walkerton resident called police to reports that some unknown person(s) removed his pier that he had put in that is located a block from his residence. The suspects set the pier on the shore. No damage was done to the pier, but he would like a police report.

07/10/11 A Knox resident reported that his neighbor’s house was vandalized. It appeared that the front and back windows of the house have been broken.

07/10/11 An employee at the Next Door Food Store reported a drive off of $45.01 in gas.

07/09/11 A resident called to report that a vehicle was on fire at CVS in Knox.

07/09/11 A Hamlet resident reported that juveniles were hitting golf balls at his residence and did damage to his siding.

07/07/11 A resident in the 8900 block of E. 200 S. in Knox reported a break-in and the theft of items.

07/06/11 A resident in the 5400 block of S. A. St, in North Judson reported that two juvenile females attempted to break into a neighbor’s residence.

07/06/11 A resident in the 9800 block of E. 100 N. in Knox reported the theft of money from his residence.

07/05/11 Harold Brooke called police to report that someone is attempting to take his hay without payment.

07/05/11 Kim Boule called police to report a stolen ring.

07/05/11 A North Judson resident reported the theft of money from her purse.

07/05/11 A Walkerton resident reported a lawnmower and a bike stolen. He said the bike is currently at the pawn shop.

Arrests:
07/08/11 Fred Boggess II, 30, of Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Illegal Drug Lab, Manufacturing Meth, False Informing, Possession of Meth, Possession of Precursors, Driving While Suspended-Prior and Habitual Offender.

Accidents:
07/09/11 Johnathon W. Devries, 19, of Mishawaka, was driving eastbound on Yellowstone Trail by 500 East in Starke County and the rear of the car lost control. The vehicle swerved side to side before leaving the roadway. The vehicle went into the ditch. Devries and his passenger, Holly McCully 23, of South Bend, were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital for stomach pains.
