Pulaski County Sheriff's Department

From the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department:

Incidents:
12/18/11 A car fire was reported in the Winamac area. The Indiana State Police was called as fire department personnel smelled a strong aroma of anhydrous ammonia and there are containers in the vehicle. The ISP told police that whatever was left was diluted by the fire department and there is nothing to clean up.

12/18/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Cass Township area.

12/18/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported on State Road 14 and 400 East in Winamac. No injuries were reported. The caller said that the deer eventually got up and allowed him to pet it before it ran off

12/18/11 A caller advised that her father crashed his vehicle in front of her residence in Monterey and an ambulance is needed. A pole was hit and was laying in the driveway. Electric crews were called to the scene.

12/18/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported at a location on Highway 421 in Cass Township.

12/18/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Medaryville area. No injuries.

12/17/11 A report of a car stuck in a field in the Medaryville area was called into the Sheriff’s Department

12/17/11 A report of a vehicle spinning and crashing was called into the Sheriff’s Department and it occurred in the Winamac area. A family member opened the door on their vehicle and smashed it into the squad car. The action caused a big dent.

12/17/11 A Medaryville resident called police to report a stolen vehicle. The caller said he bought a truck from his brother-in-law and now it is missing. Police told him that it had been in an accident the night before.

12/17/11 A caller told police that she saw a vehicle in the Indian Creek at 1100 South and Base Road and the vehicle is wedged under a tree. The top and rear are sticking out and it is too dangerous to recover at this time. It has been marked with police tape for safety reasons.

12/17/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Star City area.

12/17/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a debit card.

12/17/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Star City area. There were no injuries reported and a wrecker was called to the scene.

12/16/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported. The crash occurred south of 800 South on U.S. 35.

12/16/11 A slide off was reported in the Pulaski area. The caller told police that he slid off the road and into a ditch. He had to swim to get out of the ditch. He was not injured, just cold and wet.

12/16/11 The Star City Fire Department was called to a small brush fire.

12/16/11 Police were called to a property damage accident in the West Central Elementary School Corporation parking lot.

12/16/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Denham area. No injuries were reported.

12/15/11 A Franklin Township resident called police to report that his neighbor ran to his house and said he hit a deer.

12/13/11 Winamac EMS got a call about a hunter who fell from the top of a tree. He was flown to Fort Wayne due to his injuries.

12/13/11 A theft was reported in the Cass Township area.

12/13/11 The Star City Fire Department was called to a grain dryer fire.

12/13/11 A caller in the Monterey area reported the theft of an old flatbed.

12/13/11 A UPS driver called in a car vs. deer accident but the accident did not involve him. The driver of the vehicle was shook up but not injured.

12/13/11 A Winamac resident reported a possible breakin in Winamac.

12/13/11 Caller told police that a semi just hit a passenger vehicle in Winamac. The semi left the scene, but returned. The semi driver was arrested for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

12/12/11 A theft was reported from a storage unit in the Winamac area.

12/12/11 A caller told police that a vehicle hit a stop sign in the Winamac area. No injuries were reported but there was property damage.

12/12/11 A car vs. deer accident occurred just south of Beardstown on U.S. 35. No injuries were reported.

12/19/11 Heidi Gault, 40, 144 E. Washington, Hobart, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

12/18/11 Michael A. Hurlburt, 26, 1438 E. 1900 S., Star City, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

12/18/11 Tanya Fitch, 6970 N. U. S. 421, Medaryville, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Assisting a Criminal. Discharged 12/19/11

12/18/11 Joshua Hopper, 31, 6970 N. U.S. 421, Medaryville, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and an active arrest warrant.

12/18/11 William Daily, 33, 3814 Strawberry Ln, Rochester, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle without Receiving a License. Discharged 12/18/11

12/18/11 Christopher Standefer, 35, 1140 Milwaukee Ct, Indianapolis, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxiated, OVWI with BAC between .08 and .14, OVWI Endangerment, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. 12/17/11 Robert Whited, 26, 12561 N. 400 E., Wheatfield, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication. Discharged 12/18/11

12/16/11 Gregory Dallas, 35, 805 Azalea St. SE., Demotte, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. Discharged 12/17/11

12/16/11 James Larvick, 44, 310 E. St. Lot 17, Winamac, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated-Prior.

12/16/11 April Starr, 43, Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct. Discharged 12/16/11

12/15/11 Matthew Nolte, 39, 5509 State Road 119, Star City, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession of an Illegal Drug Lab.

12/15/11 Billy G. Anthony, Jr., 26, 306 E. Maple St., Medaryville, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of aggressive Driving and Reckless Driving. Discharged 12/15/11

12/13/11 Wyatt Hagerman, 34, 222 S. Franklin Apt. 1, Winamac, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of a Syringe and Public Intoxication.

12/13/11 Arthur R. Perry, Jr., 3824 Marydale Dr., Nashville, TN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. Discharged 12/13/11

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
12/16/11 A local business reported to North Judson police that a counterfeit $20.00 bill was taken at their establishment. The investigation continues.

12/14/11 A neighbor requested the North Judson police conduct a welfare check after they heard a call for help in the 100 block of Silver Street. Police located a senior gentlemen in need of assistance, when medics were summoned.

12/12/11 The North Judson Police responded to a call in the 200 block of Garden Street in reference to unknown subject[s] have been clipping or pruning small trees in the backyard without permission.

Arrests:

12/18/11 Quentin A. Lenig, 23, 2857 E. 100 South, Knox, IN, arrested for a warrant through Fulton County.

12/13/11 Charity L. McDaniel, 33, 6370 W. 575 North, Winamac, IN arrested for Driving While Suspended Prior and a Traffic ticket for Expired License Plate.

From the Knox City Police Department:

Incidents:
12/19/11 Police were alerted to possible drug activity at a residence on Locust Drive. When police arrived on scene, they noticed that someone may have been living in the residence when no one was to be in the residence. A pill bottle was found that contained drugs. Police took the bottle and its contents into evidence.

12/17/11 David Wallsmith told police that his vehicle was sideswiped in front of his office on Washington Street. There is a possible suspect in this case.

12/17/11 A resident reported that her son’s laptop was stolen from school.

12/15/11 Dawn Wilson reported a forgery incident to Knox police.

12/11/11 Methamphetamine precursors were reportedly found on a piece of property on Culver Road, west of Roosevelt Road. It was an actual meth lab and it was removed from the property by officers from the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lav Team.

12/19/11 Steven Gott, arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery.

12/17/11 Christian Everage, 18, 1990 N. 700 E., Grovertown, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle and Reckless Driving.

12/17/11 Anthony Esparza, 23, 8810 E. Long Lane Dr., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication.

12/13/11 Stacy Krout, 41, 503 E. St. Louis St., Knox, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

Starke County Jail

From the Starke County Sheriff’s Department:

Incidents:
12/19/11 Knatasha Justice, of Walkerton, was traveling northbound on U.S. 35 just south of 500 South when for some unknown reason she lost control of the vehicle, traveled across the northbound lane of traffic, striking the ditch and then flipping upside down into a utility pole. She was checked for injuries at the scene and refused treatment at the scene.

12/18/11 A caller reported a slide off around 875 N. and State Road 23.

12/18/11 Tiffany Frazier told police that she came home from work and found that her house has been broken into.

12/18/11 A caller in the 6800 block of S. State Road 10 in Knox reported that someone went into his garage and discovered that items were stolen including a gun and two bows.

12/18/11 Thomas Fletcher, of LaPorte, told police that he hit a deer in Starke County on U.S. 421 south of the Kankakee River and took the vehicle home. He may need a report after looking at the vehicle.

12/18/11 A patient in IU Health Starke Hospital called police to report that he was assaulted with a bat.

12/18/11 Randi Kegley, of Montery, told police that a Pit Bull just ran onto her property and tried to attack her puppy and then charged at her husband. Randi said her husband did shoot the dog and it ran into the woods

12/18/11 Christina Lawson told police that she swerved to miss another car and ran off the road and hit a tree. She said her hands are a little messed up but she does not need an ambulance.

12/18/11 Tiffany Eskridge reported the theft of her wallet with her Driver’s License in it had been stolen from her car and the unknown subject(s) attempted to lift her back seat to steal her speakers.

12/17/11 Amy Peters called police to report that he hit a deer on U.S. 35 near Toto Road.

12/17/11 A resident called police to report a rollover on U.S. 35 just north of State Road 10. Christopher Clark, of Plainfield, IN, told police that he was traveling northbound on U.S. 35 just north of State Road 10 when his juvenile passenger grabbed the wheel and caused the vehicle to go off the roadway and strike several trees and then roll onto its side. He said he attempted to hit the brakes during the accident however the accident happened without warning. Both Clark and the passenger, his son, were injured. The son was trapped in the vehicle and was not restrained in the vehicle.

12/17/11 Cathy Wilcox reported the theft of her laptop from her residence.

12/17/11 Leslie Baker advised her husband was eastbound on State Road 8 near the Yellow River and slid off the road and hit the guardrail. Another vehicle tried to avoid hitting her husband but slid into the guardrail as well.

12/17/11 Debbie Ecker told police that a female subject lost control of her vehicle and slid off the raod into their driveway and struck their vehicle. No injuries were reported.

12/17/11 Arthur Borelli reported that he was just involved in an accident on State Road 23 just north of U.S. 30.

12/17/11 An accident was reported on State Road 23 south of County Ln in Walkerton. The vehicle slid off the road and struck a sign.

12/16/11 An accident was reported on Range Road by the Little Dove Church in Toto.

12/16/11 A break-in was reported at the Hunt Club on 100 West just north of the Yellow River. The property manager is there now taking inventory of what was taken.

12/15/11 Jason Appleton told police that he hit a deer on U.S. 35 and 200 North in Knox.

12/15/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported on Toto Road and 625 E. in Knox.

12/15/11 Abraham Combs told police that he hydroplaned his vehicle and rolled it into the ditch. He was not injured.

12/14/11 A resident in the 3200 block of E. 400 S. in Knox told police that someone blew up his mailbox.

12/13/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported at 600 East and State Road 23 in the Grovertown area.

12/13/11 A resident told police of a car vs. deer accident on U.S. 35 just south of 850 South.

12/13/11 Michael Bailey reported the theft of metal from his property on State Road 10 in Knox.

Arrests:
12/16/11 Dale Hite, of Plymouth, IN, arrested two counts of Resisting Law Enforcement Resulting in Death, two counts of Reckless Homicide, and one count each of Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Methamphetamine, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and Failure to use Headlights from Sunset to Sunrise.
