From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:

The North Judson Police covered a series of 3 weather related accidents on Thursday, January 12. Jerald Crider, Jr., of North Judson, slid off of State Road 10 near 250 West, around 2:40 p.m. No injuries were reported. A little later, around 3:12 p.m., a vehicle driven by Janelle Binion, of Knox, slid into a vehicle driven by Sharon Richie, of North Judson, on the curve of Main Street and Oakwood Street. Shortly after 4:00 p.m. an accident on Ufkes Drive was reported when a 2004 Chevy Malibu being driven by Jonathon Mizer, of San Pierre, turned off of Campbell Drive onto Ufkes and slid into a tree. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated all three accidents estimating a total of damages near $10,000.00. Police remind you to drive with caution on the snow and ice.

A two vehicle mishap occurred Saturday on Vine Street near the intersection of Railroad Street in North Judson when a pickup truck being driven by David Shidler, of North Judson, backed into a Jeep being driven by Shawn Allen, also of North Judson. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated the incident, estimating damages near $2,500.

01/12/12 William H. Prater, 29, 5412 S. 250 West, North Judson, IN, arrested on a Bench Warrant through Starke Circuit Court for Possession of a Legion Drug and a Conversion warrant through Knox City Court.

01/10/12 – Curtis M. Batey, 51, 705 E. Talmer Ave., North Judson, IN arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery of a juvenile.

01/15/12 A fight was reported at the Oasis Bar in San Pierre.

01/15/12 A resident of the 5000 block of East 200 South in Knox told police that his wife and another man pulled a gun on him and he was afraid for his life.

01/14/12 Delores Stone of North Judson told police that her home was broken into and money was taken.

01/14/12 A resident of the 4900 block of South 260 West in North Judson reported someone had come down her road with a plow and took out her mailbox as well as her neighbor’s.

01/13/12 A resident of the 1700 block of East 435 South in Knox told police that he believes a snow plow took out his fence.

01/12/12 Tara Strickland of Knox told police that someone had put ketchup, ranch dressing, and tampons all over her mailbox.

01/12/12 Kenny Goble of Knox reported someone has been forging checks using his checkbook.

01/11/12 Linda Bergner of Knox advised that her mother, Mabel Hardin, had been receiving phone calls from a man claiming to sell books for Medicare, but Medicare advised they do not have anyone in the area selling books.

01/11/12 An employee of the Veterinary Clinic in San Pierre reported a theft.

01/10/12 John Clemons of Knox reported someone had taken an axe or hatchet to the hood of his truck and keyed the side as well.

01/10/12 A caller reported two males in a white and light-blue older van stealing large rocks from the park in San Pierre.

01/10/12 A resident of the 9700 block of East 600 North in Grovertown told police that someone had broken into his home and stolen a pistol as well as other items.

01/10/12 A caller told police that his car had slid into a ditch in the 5200 block of East 25 North in Knox, and when he came back from getting help, he found his Kindle and toolbox missing.

01/09/12 Jamie Ledbetter told police that someone had gone through all of her belongings in her storage unit at N & S Storage in Knox.

01/09/12 Janet McIntire of Knox told police that she has been receiving phone calls regarding a male caller informing her of a contest she won and asking that she send money through Western Union.

01/08/12 A resident of the 3100 block of South County Road 210 in Knox requested an officer in regards to property damage.

01/08/12 A resident of the 11000 block of East 900 South in Culver told police that someone had broken into his home.

01/08/12 A resident of the 3400 block of South Range Road in North Judson reported someone had stolen items from her home.

01/08/12 A resident of the 800 block of South 200 East in Knox requested an officer because she believed someone may have been breaking into her garage.

01/08/12 A resident of the 4000 block of East 175 North in Knox told police that a female had come to her home demanding her tools be returned, and when she told the female that she did not have the tools, the female hit her three times with her car door and left.

01/08/12 A resident of the 8200 block of Seminole in Walkerton reported someone had ripped his window screen while he was at the store.

01/08/12 Christine Sustaita of Knox requested officers check out her camper after she found the door open and footprints leading into the woods nearby.

Incidents:
01/15/12 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Monon area. No injuries were reported.

01/15/12 An accident was reported in the Monterey area and a pregnant woman was injured. The injury was sustained in the rib area. She was transported to the hospital.

01/15/12 A Winamac resident called police and alerted authorities of a burning smell. The caller said a strong odor was coming from the apartment above and it smelled like wires or rubber burning. The police investigated the call and gained entry to the apartment where they found a person sleeping on the couch with an empty pot on a lit burner on the stove.

01/14/12 Two car vs. deer accidents were reported in the Winamac area. No injuries were reported.

01/14/12 A woman told police that someone kicked her vehicle while parked. A boot print was visible where the damage was located.

01/14/12 An employee with a Winamac gas station reported two failure to pay incidents. Both subjects did come back to pay what they owed.

01/14/12 A passenger sustained minor injuries in a single vehicle car accident. The driver said she lost control of her vehicle going over a hill, hit a tree and rolled onto its side. The Pulaski County Highway Garage was notified of the extremely icy road.

01/14/12 A man called police to get an accident report from a car vs. deer accident the night before. He had swerved to miss a deer and struck a guardrail. He found more damage than originally suspected.

01/13/12 A caller told police that she spotted a vehicle that had gone off the road at State Road 14 and U.S. 421 and landed on its side. Emergency personnel didn’t spot that vehicle but did see a vehicle at that intersection that they believe has been there a long time.

01/13/12 A property damage accident was reported around the curve by Pizza King in Winamac. The vehicle came around the curve and slid into a truck that was parked in the driveway.

01/13/12 A caller told police that he came upon an accident between a semi and a tractor but everyone was ok.

01/13/12 A Winamac resident called police to report a hit and run accident. The complaintant said she was at the bank and heard a really loud bang. She went to see what it was and someone hit a parked car by the bank. The caller thought the car might belong to someone who lives in the apartments across the street from the bank. Police continue to investigate this call.

01/13/12 A person driving a car in the Monterey area called police to report that he just wrecked his vehicle and it is about to tip over. He said he was trying to sit still so it didn’t tip over. After a while, he called back and said someone came by and pulled him out and he is fine. The driver had come around the curve and slid off into a snow bank.

01/13/12 A caller in the Beardstown area called police and said he just took out a couple of sections of fence in front of a house.

01/10/12 A caller asked police if a person is allowed to possess dynamite. A person must have a federal permit to possess dynamite. Police investigated the call and found that there was no dynamite, but fuses.

01/10/12 A caller reported hitting three deer in the Jefferson Township area. No injuries were reported.

01/09/12 A Star City woman called police to report an attempted break-in. The resident said the unknown person(s) took off the patio glass door and was trying to get into the house. She wasn’t sure if anything was taken at the time of the call.

01/09/12 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a lawn swing and cushion.

01/09/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a fire at a pole building in the Medaryville area.

01/15/12 Michele Parlett, 41, 512 S. Market St., Winamac, IN, arrested on four active arrest warrants.

01/14/12 Johnny Mullens, 26, 203 W. Washington Apt. 5, Winamac, IN, arrested on three active arrest warrants.

01/13/12 Melissa Slavens, 35, 217 E. South Railroad St., Idaville, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear. Discharged 01/13/12

01/13/12 Samantha Davis, 23, 317 Montgomery, Francesville, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Discharged 01/14/12

01/13/12 Ann Marie Geller, 40, 5895 W. 500 S., Kemo, Warsaw, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication and Possession of Marijuana.

01/10/12 Corey Burnham, 44, 1324 Silver Creek Rd., Louisberg, TN, arrested on an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear.

01/10/12 Chase Reichel, 22, 2316 E. Kemo, Warsaw, IN, arrested on Possession charges. Discharged 01/10/12

Hamlet Police Department

From the Hamlet Police Department:

Incidents:
01/14/12 Shawn McCrum reported the theft of metal lawn chairs from his residence.

01/13/12 Hamlet police assisted the Starke County Sheriff’s Department on a call of a vehicle doing donuts in a field near the intersection of 600 N. and 900 E. A Hamlet officer located the vehicle driven by Bruce Jacobs. Bruce is facing preliminary charges of Criminal Mischief. Damage to crops estimated between $5,000-$10,000.

01/11/12 Shawn Tuttle reported damage to her belongings inside her home. The damage was believed to be caused by an ex-boyfriend.

01/11/12 A Hamlet officer was notified that a 7-year-old girl was missing but her bike was found by the Hamlet Apartments. Hamlet officer located the child a few minutes later in an apartment playing with another juvenile.
