03/17/12 A caller told police that someone had stolen scrap metal from 7195 W. 400 S. in Knox.

03/17/12 A man was reportedly found unconscious but breathing near the dam on Ind. 23 in Koontz Lake.

03/17/12 A fight was reported in the 9800 block of East Ind. 8 in Knox.

03/16/12 Tiffany Shelby of North Judson told police she had been battered by a male subject.

03/16/12 A caller from the 10400 block of East Ind. 8 in Knox told police she had been battered by two subjects in her home.

03/16/12 Kent Danford of San Pierre told police his 1998 green Ford Explorer had been stolen from a residence in North Judson.

03/16/12 A fight was reported in the 800 block of North 600 East in Knox.

03/16/12 A group of juveniles were reportedly walking along Ind. 23, breaking glass in the street.

03/16/12 A resident of the 600 block of East Ind. 10 in Knox told police that her neighbor’s yard had tire marks through it, and her phone box had been hit.

03/15/12 Karen Ball of Plymouth told police that she had been threatened while at work by a male subject who threw a hammer at her.

03/15/12 Susona Sanders of Monterey told police someone stole a scrap trailer frame from their residence.

03/15/12 Several locks were reportedly broken off of storage units located south of the Bass Lake Fire Department.

03/15/12 A caller from 1000 E North of Ind. 23 in Knox told police that his pickup truck tires had been deflated.

03/15/12 A caller from the Bass Lake Sand Bar told police items had been stolen from her vehicle.

03/14/12 Squatters were reported in an old farmhouse in the 4200 block of East 500 South in Knox.

03/14/12 Alyssa Wireman of Monterey told police her driver’s license and title were mailed to an address and the people at that location are refusing to give them to her.

03/14/12 A battery was reported in the 7000 block of South U.S. 35 in Knox.

03/13/12 A resident of the 2700 block of West Toto Road in North Judson told police that she returned home and found her back door had been opened.

03/12/12 A caller told police that she received a fraudulent phone call from a man wanting her Medicare information.

03/12/12 A stereo was reported stolen from a Chevy pickup truck parked in the 11300 block of East Ind. 8 in Knox.

03/12/12 A caller told police that a man had flattened the tire of his vehicle in the 10000 block of East 700 North in Walkerton.

03/11/12 A theft was reported from the storage units in the 8200 block of South U.S. 35 in Knox.

Arrests:
03/16/12 Tomasz Nowak, 22, of Argos, IN, was arrested following a traffic stop at the intersection of 700 East and 400 South.

03/15/12 Mary Ann Fort, 37, of Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

03/15/12 Randall Lee Appleton, 32, of Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

03/15/12 Kenneth Ray Craft, 27, of Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication.

03/14/12 Jessica Marie Boyd, 24, of Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Possession of Precursors, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Paraphernalia.

03/14/12 Shawn Ryan Heck, 25 of Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Possession of Precursors, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Paraphernalia.

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
03/18/12 A report of access being made to a shed in the 800 block of Beech Street was reported to the North Judson Police. Several bags of aluminum cans were taken from the shed. The incident remains under investigation.

03/17/12 A report was filed with the North Judson Police of two male juveniles fighting in town. One of the boys needed medical attention and after a complete investigation the incident reports will be turned over to the Starke County Probation Department.

03/17/12 Another female juvenile delinquent in the 500 block of Keller Avenue took her parent’s vehicle for a joyride. A complete report was sent to the Probation Department of Starke County.

03/16/12 Unknown subject(s) gained entry to an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Arlington and took a female’s wallet with her identification in it. The items were later recovered and returned to the owner. Just another reminded to keep your vehicle locked at all times.

03/16/12 Several juveniles were arguing in the street in the 500 block of Laurel Street when the North Judson Police were summoned and the subjects were disbursed.

03/15/12 A senior citizen in the 100 Block of Maryland reported to North Judson police that she received a phone call from out of the area. The called identified himself as her grandson and told the woman he was in trouble and in jail and needed her to wire him cash as soon as possible. She stated the caller used his name and grandmother’s name as well. The woman was told to go to Western Union and wire the money. She did not go and then she made contact with her daughter who stated the grandson was fine and was at work. “This is a scam that has been in the area for awhile now.” stated North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely. “Never send cash, give out bank account numbers, or other vital information to anyone over the telephone.” This lady was smart enough to know better and avoided being scammed.

03/14/12 A resident reported a woman needing assistance in the 500 block of Franklin Street. The report stated the woman was not feeling well and was hearing voices. North Judson Police and Starke County EMS responded and the female was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

03/14/12 A male juvenile was observed by North Judson police of jumping out into the street and then punching a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Central Ave. The juvenile was taken home to his parent.

03/14/12 The North Judson Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Street in the 500 block of Laurel Street. Police responded and located an adult couple who were having a verbal argument, which was defused.

03/12/12 The North Judson Police investigated the report of prescription drugs being missing from a home in North Judson and taken to school by child in the home. After an investigation, no drugs were located.

03/18/12 – Keith E. Ziaja, 24, 5020 S. 750 E., Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and for Public Intoxication.

03/17/12 A Denham resident called police to report that his neighbor was firing a gun southwest of his property.

03/17/12 A Pulaski resident told police that she just got her mother home from the nursing home and some unknown subject(s) stole everything out of her garage.

03/17/12 A Winamac resident reported finding a crack pipe in the yard and wants a police officer to dispose of it.

03/17/12 A Winamac man called police to report that he bought his home from a Sheriff’s sale and some articles have been taken from the residence. A man approached him and offered to sell the articles back to him.

03/16/12 A Winamac resident called police and reported seeing two or three animals, possibly goats, wrapped up in plastic wrap and dead.

03/16/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a vehicle on fire in the Cass Township area.

03/16/12 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a Sony camera and cell phone from her vehicle.

03/16/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to assist a Jasper County unit in battling a barn fire.

03/15/12 A Pulaski County resident advised police of a dump truck that rolled over in a field. The driver was slow to get out of the vehicle but appeared to be “ok”.

03/14/12 The Francesville Fire Department was called to assist the Buffalo Fire Department in White County with a large field fire.

03/14/12 A resident in Harris Township called police to report the theft of a bow from its case and a go-kart from a shed.

03/14/12 A gas leak was detected in Medaryville and the Fire Department and the Response Team were called to help evacuate residents from the area.

03/14/12 The Wheatfield Fire Department requested the assistance of the Francesville Fire Department for help in containing a woods fire.

03/14/12 A Winamac woman called police to report a theft from her bank account.

03/14/12 The Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to a large grass fire. Starke County units were also called to the scene.

Incidents:
03/20/12 James Moriarity of Chicago, IL reported building materials stolen from a home he is remodeling in Knox.

03/17/12 Sue Blind reported damage to the south side of her garage. The officer noticed the siding had been hit with an unknown object denting five areas of siding and one area had a small hole in the siding.

03/17/12 Police were called to the Medic Three base by the Knox Elementary School. An ambulance driver told police that the rear bumper to the vehicle parked in front of the ambulance was very close to the front bumper of the ambulance. There was damage to the plastic of the ambulance bumper. The officer noted in his report that he didn’t see any dents or scratches on the black plastic bumper strip on the ambulance that would indicate that it was hit by another vehicle.

03/16/12 Kraig Branham reported the theft of his wallet.

03/13/12 Christine Fisher reported damage to her vehicle while traveling on Bender Street. A wire was down in the roadway and she hit it. The spoiler on her vehicle was ripped off by the wire when she drove past it. She told police she didn’t see the wire.

03/18/12 Janda L. Glasson, 20, 6034 Cedar Ln, Rochester, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Disorderly Conduct, Illegal Possession and Public Intoxication.

From the Hamlet Police Department:

Incidents:
03/19/12 Hamlet police responded to a domestic complaint at 409 Pearl Street for a domestic complaint around 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived, a male subject identified as David Pauslen, 54, of Hamlet, was standing on the front porch yelling at officers. David was highly intoxicated. David reportedly held a 15-year-old down on the couch and threw a beer can at her, hitting her in the face. David was arrested on preliminary charges of Criminal Confinement, Disorderly Conduct and Battery.

03/18/12 Donna Erhart reported a harassment incident.

03/17/12 Hamlet Police responded to Koontz lake to assist the Starke County Sheriff’s Department for a physical fight at the Time Out bar in Koontz Lake.
