The Starke County Council has set a pay rate for the county’s next Emergency Management Agency director. Former director Jacob Lippner was fired by the county commissioners back in May. They’ve since decided to make the position a part-time job going forward.

Culver Council Approves 2017 Salary Ordinance
The Culver Town Council has approved a 2017 salary ordinance for town employees. Earlier this month, Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said a small raise has been budgeted, but most of the actual pay rates are unaffected. Culver’s park superintendent’s pay was adjusted in response to a federal law setting a minimum pay rate for overtime exemption. Continue reading
Knox Council to Conduct Hearing on Grant Application
The Knox City Council will conduct a public hearing on a proposed grant application at the start of their meeting tonight. The city is applying for a $600,000 community development block grant from the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs to pay for upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant. Much of the infrastructure there is more than 20 years old. The grant carries an anticipated local match of $1.3 million. Continue reading
Proposed Knox Salary Ordinance Includes Pay Raises
City of Knox employees could be getting pay raises in 2017. The salary ordinance adopted on first reading by the city council last night proposes a 1 percent raise for department heads and a 2 percent pay increase for employees.
