ISP Releases Investigation Information from Fatal Crash Involving School Bus

Following several hours of investigation, the Indiana State Police have released additional information about the fatal accident involving an Eastern Pulaski Community School bus that occurred on U.S. 31 Wednesday morning. The collision reportedly claimed the life of a teenage boy.

At the time of the crash, the bus was occupied by 38 eighth grade students and three chaperones that were on the way to see a Christmas musical in Warsaw.  Continue reading

One Arrested after Gun Accidentally Fires in McDonald’s Restaurant in Argos

 
 

A Hope, Indiana man was arrested in Argos on Sunday, March 30 on a charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Creating a Substantial Risk of Bodily Injury.

Officers from the Argos Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police were called to the McDonald’s restaurant in Argos in reference to gunfire. Police learned that 21-year-old David J. Boston was in the men’s bathroom when a handgun reportedly accidentally discharged. The bullet from the gun went through the wall of the men’s bathroom and through the wall of the women’s bathroom. The bullet lodged in a beam in the common area of the BP gas station and the restaurant.

Police Engage in Hour-Long Standoff with Suicidal Subject

 
 

Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department were involved in a standoff late Wednesday night with a suicidal subject.

The officers were asked to perform a welfare check on a person residing in the 7000 block of 11A Road in Plymouth. The man had reportedly contacted a suicide hotline and expressed a desire to harm himself. When officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Argos and Bourbon Police Departments arrived at the scene, they found a man armed with a gun. The officers were then involved in a standoff with the man.

Argos Man Killed In Fatal Moped Accident

A 46-year-old Argos man was killed this weekend in a fatal moped accident.

Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger says Jack R. Moriarty was fatally injured Saturday evening when his moped left the roadway and struck a farm fence post. Moriarty was not wearing a helmet and was killed instantly when his moped struck the post at 7:36 p.m., ejecting him from the bike.

Cleavenger attributed the cause of death to blunt force trauma. The family was notified shortly after the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Argos Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, and toxicology reports are pending. Argos Fire and EMS Departments also assisted at the scene.

Suspect Shot by Police after Pursuit

A Plymouth man is dead after a police pursuit in Marshall County.

Last night around 8:30 p.m. ET, an officer with the Argos Police Department attempted a traffic stop in the area of Michigan Road, north of Argos, and the driver did not stop. The officer was attempting to pull over the truck after the driver committed a traffic infraction. The officer pursued the truck, driven by Mark Albright, 62, of Plymouth.
