Winamac Town Council Selects The Next Town Marshal

The Winamac Town Council members met for an executive session and a special meeting on Monday in order to consider and vote on a few different matters related to the Winamac Police Department.

At the last Winamac Town Council meeting, Town Marshal Mike Buchanan officially announced his retirement, which will take effect on July 1st. As a result of his announcement, council members met to consider who will serve as his replacement.

There were two current Winamac police officers who were interested in the position; First Sergeant Mark Hoffman and Deputy Marshal Brian Gaillard. Continue reading →

Pulaski County Voters Narrow Sheriff’s Field, Nominate GOP Prosecuting Attorney

Pulaski County voters overwhelmingly supported a first-time candidate and two people who have previously held the offices they are seeking. Former state conservation officer Jeff Richwine was the runaway winner in the Republican sheriff’s primary. He got 1,064 votes to Brian Gaillard’s 444. Jeff Heims finished third with 323. Richwine will face former two-term sheriff Paul Grandstaff in the Nov. 4 General Election. He got 446 votes, and his challenger Jeff Jenkins pulled in 126. Grandstaff also served four years as a county commissioner after his term as sheriff ended. Continue reading →

Locally-Filmed Horror Flick to Premiere This Weekend in Winamac

The big day is quickly approaching as cast and crew prepare to unveil their three-year project. “And Then You Die,” a horror movie filmed entirely in Pulaski and Fulton counties by Daniel Murphy and Brian Gaillard, is set to premiere this weekend in Winamac.

The movie will be shown twice at the Isis Theater in Winamac on March 2: once at noon and again at 10 p.m. The cast and crew will host a question-and-answer session at the first showing of the movie, which Murphy said has not been rated.

A horror movie filmed entirely in Pulaski and Fulton counties is set to premiere in a few short weeks. “And Then You Die,” from HM&M Films and Wonky Mustache Productions, will be shown at the Isis Theater in Winamac on March 2 at noon and at 10 p.m. A cast and crew question-and-answer session will be held after the first showing of the movie, which has not been rated.
