State Road 23 to Close in Starke County for Railroad Work

The CF&E Railroad will rebuild the railroad crossing on State Road 23 just south of the intersection with U.S. 30 in Grovertown.

Work is expected to begin today and continue through Friday, Aug. 3. The road will be closed from U.S. 30 to the East Yellowstone Trail.

The official INDOT detour takes drivers on state-maintained roads. Southbound drivers on State Road 23 will be detoured west on U.S. 30, south on U.S. 35 and east on State Road 8 back to State Road 23. Northbound drivers on State Road 23 will be detoured west on State Road 8, north on U.S. 35 and east on U.S. 30 back to State Road 23.

CR 750 E Closed Due to Disabled Train

Traffic to the Oregon-Davis Schools will be re-routed today due to a CF&E train that is stuck on the tracks. County Road 750 East just south of U.S. 30 will be closed most of the day, according to dispatchers with the sheriff’s office. They advise the train broke in half, forcing the temporary road closure.
