Plans for Monterey School Building Sale Clear Another Hurdle

The Culver Community Schools Corporation’s path to selling the Monterey School Building has suddenly gotten a bit easier. Last month, school corporation attorney Jeff Houin told the school board the building would have to be registered with the Indiana Department of Education, which would place it on a statewide list of unused buildings. The idea there is to give potential charter schools a chance to lease the building. Culver School Board to Take Steps to Replace Superintendent

The Culver School Board is expected to formally accept Superintendent Vicki McGuire’s resignation this evening. McGuire is leaving Culver to take over as superintendent at the Eastern Hancock school corporation in Central Indiana. Continue reading

Culver Community School Corporation Applies for State Grant

CulverHSThe Culver Community School Corporation is seeking a $52,747 grant from the state for retention incentives for highly effective teachers. The purpose of the state grant is to increase the academic achievement of all students by helping schools and districts improve teacher and principal quality and effectiveness. Evaluations of the teachers determine who receives part of the grant as a bonus. Continue reading

From the WKVI Archives: Culver Community Schools Construction Project

What a difference 10 years makes. On May 15th, 2001, Dr. Suellen Reed kicked off the construction of three schools in the Culver Community District. Sod was turned at Culver Community Junior-Senior. High School to mark the beginning of construction. In the $18 million dollar project, Monterey Elementary was remodeled, 16 classrooms were added to Culver Elementary and classrooms and a gymnasium were added at Culver Community Junior-Senior High School.
