North Judson Town Council Meets Tonight
The North Judson Town Council members will hold the second reading over an ordinance to vacate a 16-foot alley between Dahlke and Lyle Streets when they meet tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Knox City Council Adopts ADA Procedures Ordinance and Appoints a Coordinator
Knox City Council members appointed Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston to the position of ADA Coordinator when they met Tuesday night. Members also approved an ordinance pertaining to ADA procedures.
Houston informed the council of the seven suggested steps that public entities must take, related to the American’s with Disabilities Act.

Medaryville Council Considers Water Tower Options
The Medaryville Town Council continues planning for a new water tower. Last week, representatives from Commonwealth Engineers reviewed the different types of water towers with council members, and made some recommendations for replacing the town’s current one, according to Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood.
City of Knox Receives a $20,000 Planning Grant
Mayor Dennis Estok told Knox City Council members last week that the city is the recipient of a grant worth $20,000.
The city received the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and according to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the planning grant is funded with money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. OCRA says the goal of the program is to encourage communities to plan for long-term community development.
Mayor Estok said that CDBG funds will be spent to cover the cost of services being provided by the Troyer Group, the architecture and planning firm assisting city officials with the construction of the Knox Parks 5-Year Master Plan. Continue reading
Culver Town Council Gets “Stellar” News
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist delivered some “stellar” news Tuesday night to the town council members pertaining to funding for projects within the town’s designation as a Stellar Community.
“We had our first meeting with the grant administrative staff from the state and found out for our Community Development Block Grant funding through OCRA that they basically set aside $2 million for us,” said Leist. “A lot of that we’ll use at the Culver Beach Lodge and Cavalier Sports Park. That is a significant chunk of change that won’t require a local match at all. It’s very good news!”

Medaryville Moving Ahead with Plans for New Water Tower
The Town of Medaryville is working on plans for a new water tower. According to officials in the clerk-treasurer’s office, the plan is to build the water tower across the street from the town hall, on land currently owned by the Diocese of Lafayette. During a special session Friday, the town council voted to make an official offer to buy the two parcels for $6,000.
Culver Town Council Approves Beach Lodge Renovation Plan Resolution
The Culver Town Council this week reviewed a resolution for renovations to the Culver Beach Lodge.
A Community Development Block Grant of $15,000 was awarded to the town with a local match of $3,500 for the renovations. Officials with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs have reviewed the plans and are satisfied with how the grant money will be utilized.

Public Hearing Set Tonight for Proposed Wastewater Facility Improvements in Medaryville
A public hearing is set for tonight to hear comments on the proposed federally funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project to make improvements to the Town of Medaryville’s wastewater system.
The town of Medaryville is planning to apply for a CDBG grant worth $450,000. The amount of funds proposed to be used that will benefit low- and moderate-income persons is $279,000. The town is also expected to expend an estimated $400,000 in non-CDBG funds on the project. These funds will come from the Town of Medaryville and a bond issue.
A public hearing on this will be tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Medaryville Town Hall, 409 E. Main Street. Knox and North Judson to Receive Grants for Storm Water Infrastructure Projects
Christmas came early for Knox and North Judson officials. Lieutenant Governor, Becky Skillman, announced that 13 Hoosier communities will receive grants totaling almost $11 million dollars for storm water infrastructure projects. These grants are funded by an appropriation for disaster recovery efforts from the federal Community Development Block Grant program.
