Pulaski County Tax Auction Leads to Deed Recommendation

Pulaski County CourthousePulaski County will have to spend a small amount of money in order to provide a deed to the individual buying county-owned land.

Attorney Kevin Tankersley says the property, described only as “railroad property,” was sold at tax auction. Before a deed can be given to the winning bid, however, a legal description is needed to complete the document. Currently the site is missing that description.

Pulaski Commissioners Assess Fine in Monterey Building Collapse

The Commissioners acted as the “hearing authority” for the Town of Monterey – which is required under state statute before additional steps can be taken – for the former Sportsman’s Bar and Grill. The building collapsed in April of this year, but ensuring proper clean-up has proven a laborious task.

It was her first election, but there may be a few things she’d like to change.

Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley was elected in November of 2014, and was able to test her knowledge during this month’s Primary Municipal Election. The primary saw few contested races, but additional candidates are expected prior to the General Election.

Election Board To Review Performance Following Primary

 
 

The Starke County Election Board will be convening for the first time since last week’s Knox Primary Municipal Election.

Tuesday was the first election Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley. Few of the races were contested during the primary. Incumbent Mayor Rick Chambers was defeated handily by former Mayor Dennis Estok. Several other City Council seats were contested, largely on the Democratic side.

Gayer Explains Purchase of “Mango Tango” Charger

The Pulaski County Commissioners discussed with Sheriff Mike Gayer why a vehicle was purchased without their approval. Gayer said that he was under the impression that, because the vehicle is a necessary tool to the Sheriff’s Department, it fell under the type of purchase that did not need approval from the Commissioners. Gayer also stressed that he was not trying to circumvent the system and he meant no disrespect, and he purchased the vehicle  as inexpensively as possible.
