Plans in the Works for Benches, Sign at Veterans Memorial Park

The Winamac Park Board is finalizing plans to add benches and a decorative sign to the Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Monticello and Washington Streets. The VFW and American Legion Posts each plan to donate a bench dedicated to veterans to the park. The board decided Thursday night they want the benches to be a neutral color. Continue reading

Winamac Park Board Discusses Potential Pool Maintenance Costs

The Winamac Park Board continues to explore the expected maintenance costs for a rebuilt swimming pool. Last week, board member and town manager Brad Zellers presented a list of eight cities and towns around the state and what they spend each year on their pools. Of those, only two broke even, with pool admissions and concession sales. Continue reading

Winamac Park Board Gets to Work on Five-Year Plan

Work is now underway to develop a five-year plan for Winamac’s park and recreation facilities. Katie Bierrum, who’s putting the comprehensive plan together as part of her coursework at Purdue University, discussed the plan with the Winamac Park Board Thursday. As part of the process, she’s gathering information about the park facilities, and is also asking board members what direction they want to see the facilities take in the future. Continue reading
