Culver Man Sentenced in Reckless Homicide Case

54-year-old Jon McFarland was charged following a Grand Jury indictment from December of 2014. It alleges that on October 12th of that year, McFarland was a driver in an automobile crash that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 10 near Argos.

A man convicted of sex crimes and murder was released from the Indiana Department of Corrections.
According to a press release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, Richard Dobeski was let out of a New Castle, Indiana facility. He is a registered sex offender for crimes against children in Indiana.
North Judson Police Investigating High School Break-In
An investigation is ongoing after an incident at North Judson-San Pierre High School on Friday morning.

Counterfeit Bills Circulating Culver Not Seen For Period
Residents in Culver are being asked to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills.
According to officials with the Town of Culver, the bills are largely focused to $20 bills and higher. The counterfeit currency is said to look fairly realistic, but is missing a key watermark in addition to the reflective ink typically associated with real bills.
After School Organization Looking To Generate Funds for Youth Programs (Mon)
A local after school program is looking to raise a bit of money later this spring.
The Starke County Youth Club’s 8th Annual RadioThon will be held May 1st. The organization – which launched in 2001 – provides a range of activities, including healthy eating and possibly taking students on field trips.
