The members of the Culver-Union Township Fire Department will host an open house this Friday, Oct. 5 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. ET at the fire station (508 E. Lakeshore Drive) as a prelude to Fire Prevention Week Oct. 7 and a fundraising event for an aerial platform truck.

Culver Club Teen Center Opening in October
Officials with the Culver Boys and Girls Club are excitedly preparing the space and organizing the itinerary for opening day of the brand new Culver Club Teen Center. The meet and greet is coming up on October 2nd and will be in room 919 of Culver Community Middle School from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Culver Boys and Girls Club Going Strong
The Culver Community School Board received an update on programs offered with the Culver Boys and Girls Club.
Club Director Jessye Gilley said the club started in 2007 with 35 kids a day while today there are 92 students who attend activities as an average daily membership. The total active enrollment is 219. The club welcomes Culver students and many other students in the area to attend the available after school programs.

Culver School Board Gets Update on Summer Food Program
The Culver Community Schools Corporation is reporting success with its efforts to provide free meals to local children during the summer months. Food Services Director Carin Clifton gave the school board an update Monday on the Summer Food Service Program. It’s sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and aims to give meals to children 18 and younger, as well as adults with disabilities who are enrolled in a state-approved education program. Culver Boys and Girls Club Progressing With Programs for Children
The Marshall County Commissioners received an update on the Culver Boys and Girls Club last week.
Alan Loehr told the commissioners that 350 members are involved and more than 142 children at one time have been taking part in the after school and summer program.
