Culver Community Schools Corporation Celebrates 50th Anniversary, While Preparing for Referendum

The Culver Community Schools Corporation is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, but school officials are also looking to the future, as next month’s referendum approaches. Superintendent Karen Shuman passed out special 50th anniversary pins to school board members Monday. “It is a significant end, when we talk about the referendum, that we wish to be here in 50 years,” she said, “and as you’ve seen, the signs have gone up.”

Culver School Board Gets Update on Summer Food Program

summerfoodservicesThe Culver Community Schools Corporation is reporting success with its efforts to provide free meals to local children during the summer months. Food Services Director Carin Clifton gave the school board an update Monday on the Summer Food Service Program. It’s sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and aims to give meals to children 18 and younger, as well as adults with disabilities who are enrolled in a state-approved education program. Culver School Board Reverses Administrative Cut, Delays Naming Permanent Superintendent

Culver Community School CorporationThe Culver Community Schools Corporation has changed its plans for administrative cuts, due to some recent resignations. Last December, the school corporation recommended cutting two administrative positions, as well as some teaching jobs, as a cost-saving measure. The school board moved ahead with that process earlier this year, voting not to renew the contract of Assistant Principal/Title 1 Director Julie Berndt. Continue reading
