Knox School officials are beginning to see some success with updated drop-off and pickup procedures. Previously, cars had been lining up on local roads around the elementary and middle schools. Knox City Police have asked elementary school parents not to arrive to pick up students before 2:20 p.m. Officers say any cars standing on Culver Road will be issued a ticket.

Starke County motorists can bypass Knox traffic by taking County Road 300 East/Klockner Drive from Culver Road to State Road 8. The contractor in charge of the road improvements through the Knox Industrial Park advised WKVI News last evening the intersection of Klockner Drive and Culver Road is open to traffic again in all directions. Work on the road to improve access to the Starke County Industrial Park is continuing. Starting today the intersection of Klockner Drive and Culver Road will be closed in all directions. Klockner Drive Project Nears Completion Milestone
Work on Klockner Drive/County Road 300 East to improve access to the Starke County Industrial Park is on track to wrap up before Thanksgiving. Crews will be paving the east side of Klockner from south of Pacific Avenue north to the railroad spur today. Klockner Drive is set to reopen in both directions from Pacific Avenue north to State Road 8 on Monday, Nov. 10. Local traffic will also be able to access Klockner from Pacific Avenue south to just north of Culver Road.
Portions of Pacific Avenue to Be Closed This Week

Starke County Industrial Park Road Improvements Begin Today
Improvements to the south intersection of 300 East and State Road 8 in Starke County begin today. That’s the main road to the Knox Industrial Park. The goal of the project is to improve access for large trucks. Project manager Andrew Schouten with Milford-based Phend & Brown says the road will be closed sometime today so work can be done. Busy Knox Intersection to Close at Various Times This Week
Work continues to improve roads and other upgrades in the Industrial Park in Knox.
With that, Knox Mayor Rick Chambers said 300 East and Culver Road will be closed at various times this week for the installment of a gas line in that area. Millers Construction will be performing the work and the travel interruption is only expected to affect this one week.
Starke County Commissioners Asked to Classify County Road as Rural Major Collector
Starke County Development Foundation Director Charles Weaver appeared before the County Commissioners at it’s most recent meeting. He asked the Board to sign an application to be submitted to the Indiana Department of Transportation to classify County Road 300 East, between Culver Road South and State Road 8 on the North, as a rural major collector.
“This makes that parcel of road eligible for eighty percent federal financing on a highway project,” said Weaver.
The major collector will link the road that will be rebuilt to state standards to service not only the industry in that area but the residents and other users as well.
