The town of Culver will soon be sporting a new fishing pier at their park that will not only be handicap-accessible but will also offer a great view of the lake and a wonderful place to sit, relax, and even do some fishing. Town Manager David Schoeff explained that the town has always had a fishing pier at that location, but because of its age, the town decided it was time to buy a new one.
Town of Culver Agrees to Interlocal Agreement with Marshall County
Marshall County Building Inspector Chuck DeWitt gave the county commissioners an update Monday on the interlocal agreement with the town of Culver.
DeWitt told the commissioners that the Culver Town Board approved an agreement in which all building permits and other construction issues can be accessed and filed online. All paperwork will then be processed by his department.
Culver Still Working on Comprehensive Plan
The town of Culver is still in the midst of finding a planning firm to handle the drafting of their new comprehensive plan, and Town Manager David Schoeff said it should just be a few weeks before the town board has chosen a firm to handle the work. He said he’s strongly looking forward to getting this matter taken of.
Schoeff said the town has been working on this plan for quite some time and there’s a bit of a buzz about it because it’s coming closer and closer to fruition. He said the town has been persistent and patient, and now the document is almost complete, giving the town a a guidebook on where the community would like the town to ultimately end up, or what it will become.
Questions Raised Concerning Culver Golf Cart Ordinance
What’s the difference between a golf cart and a Utility Terrain Vehicle? There isn’t much of one, but enough of a difference for UTVs to be prohibited on town roads, says Grant Munroe, owner of Culver Lodging Realty and CGM Photography. Munroe appeared before the town council and requested a revision to the Golf Cart Ordinance to allow for the use of UTVs on Culver roads.
Citizens Speak Up at Culver Town Board Meeting
At Culver’s Town Board meeting, several citizens spoke up against the local banquet facility after a large outside gathering got very loud, bothering neighbors. Some of the residents wanted to know if the big outdoor gatherings are required to get any permits to have these loud events, and Board President, Ginny Bess Munroe, mentioned that a food cart serves food in that area and is required to get a permit.
Culver to Remove 100 Tons of Sludge from Sewer System
One hundred tons of sludge needs to be removed from sludge beds in Culver, in order to allow them to upgrade their sewer system. Because of the increase in volume, the system is in need of an increase in capacity. This involves upgrading some of the headworks and an equalizer tank. When the project was done just last year, the cost was roughly $30,000.
Marshall County Council on Aging Looking to Expand Services in Culver
Jackie Wright from the Council on Aging in Marshall County appeared before the town council yesterday evening to discuss the possibility of expanding services in Culver.
“We were primarily looking at getting awareness out, and what type of services might be to enhance the transportation for people who don’t drive in the Culver area,” said Wright.
Culver Town Board Addresses Residential Water Issues
The Culver Town Council has received several letters from residents of the town notifying them of water issues, and they plan to attach these letters to a grant application to get these problems fixed. Recently, the review committee met with three different engineers in regards to a grant to conduct a water study. Commonwealth Engineers, DLZ, and GAI Consultants were reviewed, and Commonwealth was approved as the engineer if the water study grant is received.
