Culver Town Council Establishes Special Summer Schedule for Town Employees
Special summer hours have been established for Culver Town Hall and town officials will be trying out a new summer hour schedule as well.
During the summer season, Culver Town Hall will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. At last week’s Culver Town Council meeting, a new employee schedule was proposed.

Crews Will Be Conducting Hydrant Flushing in Culver this Week
Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim sent out a notification to alert residents that crews will be conducting hydrant flushing this week.
She mentioned that during the process, water may appear to have a “rusty” color, however, it is still safe to drink. Heim stated that this is a necessary procedure conducted biannually that removes rust from the town’s water distribution system. Continue reading
Early Voting Continues Through Monday
Local voters have a few more chances to cast their ballots early, ahead of next week’s primary. In-person absentee voting continues today from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Starke County Courthouse in Knox. Pulaski County residents may vote today at either the Pulaski County Justice Center in Winamac or the Francesville Fire Station from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Culver Town Council members will consider a tax abatement for Elkay when they meet tonight. The council also plans to discuss the park superintendent position as well as review a resolution adopting the Marshall County All-Hazards Mitigation Plan.
Culver Town-Wide Yard Sales Planned This Month
The Town of Culver will host the town-wide yard sale event on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28.

Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council members are anticipated to adopt several ordinances when they meet tonight.
A rezoning ordinance that would change the BP Good Oil zoning from C-2 to C-1 for proposed renovations is up for third reading as is a rezoning ordinance to properly rezone park property into a park. A salary ordinance amendment will be considered for third reading.
Town of Culver Accepting Applications for Sidewalk Program
Applications will be accepted soon for the curb and sidewalk reimbursement program for the Town of Culver.
Culver residents who would like to replace and improve sidewalks may apply beginning Monday, April 2, at the Culver Town Hall. Project applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and reviewed by Utility Superintendent Bob Porter. Dimensions which include the width and length of the sidewalk and/or curb are required at the time of the application submission.
Culver Town Council to Hold Public Hearings Tonight
The Culver Town Council members will hold public hearings tonight on several different topics.
A public hearing concerning the annexation of the five contiguous parcels at 17664 State Road 17 and 19456 State Road 10 will be held as well as a public hearing for the rezoning of those parcels to a Planned Unit Development. The second reading of the annexation ordinance will be considered along with the first reading of the rezoning ordinance in this matter tonight.
Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council will consider awarding a bid for the proposed Damore Amphitheater when they meet tonight. The council members opened four bids for the amphitheater during their last meeting where the lowest base bid was $131,450 and the highest base bid was $189,355.
Bids for Housing Development Project to be Opened in March
The Culver Town Council members will open bids for the Sand Hill Farms workforce housing development project in March.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist explained to the council members last week that Engineer Mark Sullivan will have design plans ready for bidders on Wednesday, Feb. 28. A notice will be published so bidders have time to get them in by the deadline.
Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council will meet tonight where council members are expected to open bids for the Damore Amphitheater. Amphitheater plans call for a covered stage and four rows of tiered grass seating with concrete retaining walls to be constructed in the Culver Town Park. Additional open seating areas would be available around the stage and under trees. The project was the recipient of a crowdfunding grant as well as grant funds from the Marshall County Community Foundation and state grant funding.

Culver-Union Township Fire Chief Receives Firefighter Applications
Culver-Union Township Fire Chief Terry Wakefield told the town council members last week that he’s received three applications for firefighters.
The fire department has suffered from a dwindling roster of firefighters and Wakefield has been soliciting for applications from Culver or Union Township residents for the past year hoping to gather interest in training to be a firefighter.
Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council members will meet in regular session tonight.
The council members will act on additional readings of the traffic ordinance and the salary ordinance.
The traffic ordinance designates a congested motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian area on Lakeshore Drive and signage will be placed between 508 Lakeshore east to 824 Lakeshore Drive. The ordinance also creates a no parking zone for 50 feet from the intersection on both sides of the street on Batabano and South Plymouth Street.
Culver Town Council Adopts Ordinances
The Culver Town Council members adopted two ordinances this week.
An ordinance was approved on second and third reading that allows a retiring police officer, who has served at last 20 years in law enforcement, the ability to retain his or her service weapon, badge and identification cards.
