Culver Community senior wrestler Jeremiah Harvey completed the greatest individual season in school history by winning the State Championship at 285lbs. Jeremiah began the post season by placing 3rd at the Plymouth Sectional. His dominance of the post season began the following week at the Rochester Regional placing 1st overall, he then went on to win the Merrillville Semi-State before advancing to the State Finals. Jeremiah won his first round match against Huntington North’s Andrew Mason, pinning him in :24. The rest of the tournament would not be as easy. Jeremiah pinned Tyler Melby of Westfield in 6:44, then defeated Bellmont’s #1 ranked undefeated Daniel Meyer 3-2 in overtime, before beating Plymouth’s Damon Howe for the third time this season 3-1 in overtime to take the State Title. Jeremiah ended his historic wrestling season with an overall record of 45-4. Congratulations to Jeremiah Harvey of Culver Community High School on bringing home the Kankakee Valley area’s 6th State Title!

Culver Community School Students Helping to Make Wishes Come True
Students in the Culver Community School District are motivated this year to help make a wish come true for two families of terminally ill students. This is the second year the students have been involved in a Make-A-Wish effort. Last year they raised $3,667 after pledging $150 to make a New Carlisle boy’s wish come true.
Brittany Griffith Arrested on Forgery, Fraud Charges
Starke County resident, Brittany Griffith, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly writing bad checks from her grandmother’s bank account without permission.
Griffith reportedly stole the checks after she was told to leave her grandmother’s house. She wrote bad checks to several businesses including the Culver Cove, Culver CVS and the Bottle Shoppe in North Judson. The investigation continues into this case.
Griffith has preliminary charges of Forgery, Fraud and Theft. Griffith’s boyfriend, Aaron Wireman, was also arrested and has a preliminary charge of Assisting a Criminal. Griffith is currently being held in the Starke County jail.
Maxinkuckee Players Looking to 2011
The Maxinkuckee Players are already making plans for the 2011 summer presentation. A meeting is scheduled in Culver early next month to elect officers.
If you have a suggestion for a possible musical production for the Players 2011 season you may contact Charlie Weaver at 574-772-5000 in Knox, who is a member of the selection committee. That committee will make several suggestions to the Players members who, in turn, will make the final selection at a meeting in January or early February.
