A Gary man pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state in a court hearing Friday to killing seven women, according to a published report. One of those victims was former Knox resident Kristine Williams.

New Judge Takes Over Suspected Serial Killer’s Case
The Gary man accused of killing seven women, including a Knox resident, will have his death penalty case heard by a new judge. “The Times of Northwest Indiana” reports Lake Criminal Judge Samuel Cappas will preside over Darren Vann’s capital murder case. Memorial Service Scheduled Today for Local Murder Victim
A murder victim will be remembered today in her home town. Kristine Williams, 36, was found in an abandoned house in Gary on Sunday, Oct. 19. Police there say accused serial killer Darren Vann, 43, has confessed to killing her and six other women. Williams grew up in Knox and would have graduated from Knox High School in 1997. Darren Vann, 43, led police to the bodies of six of those women on Sunday, Oct. 19th after his arrest the previous day in connection with the strangulation death of a woman at a Hammond motel. A memorial service is planned Saturday morning in Starke County for the Knox woman believed to be a victim of a serial killer apprehended last weekend in Gary. Police there found the body of Kristine Williams, 36, in an abandoned house on Sunday, Oct. 19. Accused murderer Darren Vann led them to the bodies of six women police say he’s confessed to killing after he was arrested in connection with the strangulation death of a woman at a Hammond motel.
