 The Starke County Democrats have elected a new Coroner.

A caucus was held Wednesday night at the VFW in Knox to select a new candidate for the job. Filling the position during a special caucus was needed following the resignation former Coroner Adam Gray – who cited personal and professional reasons behind the move.

Starke County Officers to be Sworn in This Week

The Starke County Republican candidates voted into office in the General Election will be sworn in in a ceremony this evening at 5:00 p.m. CT in the Starke Circuit Courtroom.

The swearing in ceremony for the Starke County Democrats elected into office will be on Thursday, December 30th at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Knox Community Center.

Congressman Joe Donnelly to Vote in Favor of the President’s Tax Cut Compromise

Second District Congressman Joe Donnelly said Thursday that he will be voting for the President’s tax cut compromise. Democrat opponents are poised to attempt to sink the measure that came after a compromise with Republicans.

The Obama plan, agreed to in principal by the Republican side, would prevent the December expiration of all the Bush tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003. Obama had originally balked at cutting taxes for the highest earners.
