The Knox Redskin Brigade wrapped up their marching season at the Indiana State School Music Association’s state marching band finals at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The band performed their PI 3.14 program in Open Class C and finished in the 10th spot.
The Knox High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble performed well at the state level over the weekend.
The state preliminary competition was held Saturday morning at Avon High School where they placed second. Their evening performance in the final round of competition found them in third place.
Knox Band Director Craige Phipps commented that the Indoor Percussion Ensemble somewhat resembles a marching band.
The Knox Winter Percussion, which involves more than 25 students, has been very successful this season. Director Craige Phipps notes they’re ending their regular season soon.
“They’ve gotten a gold rating at every competition they’ve gone to and this weekend they’re going to be in Warsaw,” explained Phipps. “Because of the class we’re in with this group, they don’t have a first, second or third place or a state finals per se. What they get is they actually get division ratings. I can tell you that they’ve been ranking extremely high, but I can’t tell you the exact placements. They’ve been doing an outstanding job.”
