A longtime Oregon-Davis principal has been named the school corporation’s next superintendent. Elementary School Principal Bill Bennett was given the superintendent’s job during a special school board meeting Monday.

elsewhere, the school board is bringing in some help to find a new
superintendent and keep the school corporation running in the meantime.
Oregon-Davis Elementary School’s new secure entrance is almost complete. Once visitors enter the building, a set of doors restricts access to each hallway, forcing them to check in at the main office. Principal Bill Bennett says the school was able to make the upgrades thanks to a Secured School Safety matching grant from the state.
Oregon-Davis is looking to become a STEM-certified school corporation. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says the school board got an update from Elementary School Principal Bill Bennett last week on the school corporation’s efforts in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

to boost test scores and attendance. The school board approved the 2019-2020
school improvement plans last week, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.
Oregon-Davis teachers are getting their first pay raises in
over a decade. The 2019-2020 teacher contract was unanimously approved by the
school board Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.
As the Oregon-Davis School Board
considers restructuring the high school administrative staff, board
members have agreed to renew the elementary school principal’s
contract. The school board voted Monday to renew Bill Bennett’s
administrative contract for the 2019-2020 school year.
Oregon-Davis teachers are now a bit more prepared for emergencies. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says the school corporation was recently able to purchase “go bags,” with grant funding from the Small, Rural School Achievement program. “They are emergency bags that were placed in every classroom on campus,” Harman explains.
Oregon-Davis Elementary School is
holding its kindergarten roundup next week. Families with kids who’ll
be five years old on or before August 1 are invited to stop by and
register on Tuesday, March 12 between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. CDT.
Giving students the best education

The Indiana State Board of Education recently notified Oregon-Davis School Superintendent Dr. Steve Disney that the elementary school will be honored at the Indiana Statehouse today.
“They extended an invitation to me to bring our Elementary Principal, Mr. Bennett, and four of our elementary teachers to be recognized at the Indiana Statehouse on Thursday morning,” said Dr. Disney. “They’re recognizing the ten most improved schools in the State of Indiana and said that Oregon-Davis was 9th and that’s out of almost 900 schools.”
