A LaPorte man who pleaded guilty to making child pornography and explosives has been sentenced to 60 years in prison. Court documents say Eric R. Weiler, 46, drugged people so they would be unconscious while he made a video of himself performing sex acts on an unconscious child, according to U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch.

A LaPorte man is accused of making child pornography and explosives. Eric R. Weiler, 45, was charged in a six-count indictment before a South Bend District Grand Jury, according to U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch.
La Porte Police and the Porter County Bomb Squad reportedly found an explosive device at a residence in the 700 block of F. St., in La Porte late Wednesday afternoon.
La Porte police detectives were able to secure a search warrant after police received information about a person in possession of explosive material at the home. Officers from the La Porte City Police Department and the La Porte County Emergency Response Team took Eric R. Weiler into custody without incident.
