Crews Will Be Conducting Hydrant Flushing in Culver this Week
Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim sent out a notification to alert residents that crews will be conducting hydrant flushing this week.
She mentioned that during the process, water may appear to have a “rusty” color, however, it is still safe to drink. Heim stated that this is a necessary procedure conducted biannually that removes rust from the town’s water distribution system. Continue reading
North Judson Brush Pick-Up Begins Today, Fire Hydrant Flushing to Occur in May
North Judson Town Superintendent Marshall Horstmann addressed a few important dates that residents should keep in mind in the coming weeks at last Monday’s town council meeting.
In response to a citizen question, he stated that the town utility department will start brush pick-up on Thursday, April 26th. Horstmann said they won’t be able to accomplish it all in one sweep, so additional brush pick-up will need to take place after today. Continue reading
Knox Water Department Crews to Conduct Fire Hydrant Flushing Soon
Knox Water Department crews will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city on Monday, April 16th and work will continue through Thursday, April 19th. The work will be conducted during the day so motorists are asked to avoid driving through areas where they see employees working.
As a result of the hydrant flushing, tap water may appear brown, according to a press release from the Mayor’s Office. The release indicates that the water is safe to drink and can be cleared up by running cold water from a bathtub or outside faucet. Continue reading
Knox Water Department to Start Hydrant and Waterline Flushing Wednesday
The Knox Water Department will begin flushing waterlines and fire hydrants tomorrow morning.
Knox Water Superintendent Todd Garner said this procedure is performed to test the working order of the fire hydrants and to keep the water mains clean. Gardner said the work will be done during the day and should be completed, at the latest, by Tuesday of next week.

Fire Hydrant Flushing Scheduled for This Week in Knox
Fire hydrant flushing in the City of Knox will take place Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25.
Flushing will take place during the day. If you come across standing water in the road, drive carefully or turn around and take a different route. If you experience rusty water, turn on the faucet and let the water run until it runs clear.
Water Superintendent Todd Gardner said crews flush fire hydrants to flush out any iron and sediment out of the water system that has collected over the summer months.
