The City of Knox is hoping to streamline the approval process for fire protection agreements. The board of works recently agreed to continue letting Center Township and part of Jackson Township get fire protection from the Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Department for 2021. Center Township will once again pay $30,000 for the year, while Jackson Township’s cost is $5,000.

The winners of the 2020 Light Up North Judson holiday decorating contest will be announced during tonight’s town council meeting. The Rich Grove Township fire protection contract and a pair of additional appropriations will be up for approval. Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe previously told council members that more spending permission may be needed out of the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund, due to the extra paving that took place this year.

Three local fire departments are teaming up to provide temporary coverage to Railroad Township. The North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department announced on Facebook Thursday that Chief Joe Leszek, along with the chiefs of the LaCrosse and Medaryville-White Post Township volunteer fire departments, have agreed to cover Railroad Township on a non-contracted basis.
North Judson to Save Money with Health Insurance Switch
The Town of North Judson expects to save about $8,000 next year on employee health insurance costs. The town council voted to switch from Anthem to UnitedHealthcare, while staying with broker John Howard. Continue reading
