Governor Eric J. Holcomb announced Tuesday, June 4 that Microsoft will invest $1 billion to establish a new data center in northwest Indiana. The new facility, which will create up to 200 new jobs by the end of 2032 in La Porte, will accelerate cloud computing infrastructure to support growth in technology and artificial intelligence worldwide.

Holcomb announced during this week’s State of the State address that Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded a $250 million grant to help bolster quality of place efforts throughout the state. The grant to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), which is the single largest award given in Lilly Endowment’s 86-year history, will be administered in conjunction with the nationally-recognized Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI).

Flags are ordered to be flown at half-staff on Thursday in Pulaski and Lake Counties in memory of U.S. Marine SSgt. Tyler James Fox who recently passed away while on active duty.
The order is directed by Governor Eric J. Holcomb who notes that flags will be at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral which is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 28.
Holcomb asks that residents, businesses owners and government agencies do this in honor of SSgt. Fox’s courageous service and dedication to duty.
