A potential building project continues to be explored at Knox Community Schools. A community task force set up to help guide the process has held its first meeting, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart.
The Culver School Board has decided to move ahead with requesting formal proposals for energy-savings upgrades. Board members have heard presentations from a few companies. Last week, they decided to take the next step by advertising a request for qualifications from guaranteed energy savings providers.
Teacher contracts will be up for approval when the Culver School Board meets tonight. Members will vote on the ratification of the 2018-2019 collective bargaining agreement, according to the advance meeting agenda.
The Culver Community Schools Corporation continues to look into potential energy savings upgrades. Last month, the school board heard a proposal from Performance Services. Last week, it was Trane’s turn.
The Knox School Board got a financial update on the school corporation’s facility improvements last week. “We have about $60,000 left in our $5 million bond project that is not encumbered as of yet,” Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained. “We still have projects left to do.”

Energy savings upgrades are paying off for the Culver Community Schools Corporation. It saved more than $364,000 in energy costs, as the result of guaranteed energy savings projects in 2011 and 2013. That’s more than $100,000 beyond what was originally guaranteed.
The Culver Community Schools Corporation is looking to make its buildings more energy efficient. Superintendent Karen Shuman says school officials are exploring the possibility of switching to LED lighting, updating heating and cooling systems, and anything else that could make the school buildings run more efficiently.
