The revitalization of the Town of Hamlet is well underway. The first phase of a three-part revitalization program of sidewalks and lighting is near completion. Hamlet Park Board Approves Vending Machine Addition
The addition of security cameras in the Hamlet Town Park will clear the way for a few other amenities. The park board agreed Wednesday night to add a pop machine in the pavilion. Members noted it will be in full view of one of the security cameras, which are pending installation. Continue reading
Downtown Revitalization Projects to Start in Hamlet
The downtown revitalization program for Hamlet was given a green light last night for starting Phase I of the project. This step includes some 200-feet of new sidewalk and curb and the installation of three new antique street lights. Hamlet Officials Move Forward With Demolition Plans
The Hamlet Town Board last night took action to accept a proposal from JD Excavating to raze two abandoned houses in the town. The work will begin pending the building inspector’s final approval.
Discussion followed a resident’s inquiry about providing Hamlet residents access to a Bank ATM near the Town Hall. An alternative plan also under discussion was for the town itself to purchase am automatic teller machine to provide the service. Continue reading
Hamlet Council Talks Town Improvements
The improvement of the downtown area in Hamlet was discussed Wednesday night by the Town Board with business owner Lee Nagai.
Nagai is remodeling a downtown business building and is an advocate for the installation of conduit to serve new street lights in the area over the next several years. The lights may be financed by offering sponsorship to businesses and individuals. Continue reading

Hamlet Park Board Prepares for Summer
The Hamlet Park is being prepared for the summer season. When the Park Board met recently, members took action to replace the old water fountain and to provide a proper drain for the excess water. A number of new trees may be planted after the Board reviews prices. Park security will be updated with new and improved cameras, and consideration will be given to providing a cold drink machine in the shelter. The Board also approved a $1000 donation to support this summer’s Yellowstone Trail Fest.
Hamlet Town Board Approves Pay Raises
The Town of Hamlet employees will receive an “across the board” three-percent pay increase effective with the February pay date. The board approved the increase after a lengthy discussion on the town’s 2015 budget Wednesday night. No increase was approved for the members of the Board. Continue reading
Hamlet Officials Hope to Sell Vacant Lot
The Town of Hamlet is offering for sale a vacant downtown property at the corner of Davis and Main Streets, east of the Rannells Funeral Home. The Town clerk has details for those interested in purchasing the property.
At its Wednesday meeting, the Town Board adopted a 2015 operating budget of $488,211.
Five residents have financially completed their 50-50 sidewalk replacement agreements. Construction is expected to start early next week. The Board plans to replace some of the sidewalk at the Town Hall entrance.
When the 3-man board convened as the Park Board it approved a $4,500 purchase of new playground equipment for toddlers.
