This mobile unit will go to schools during the day to offer dental and medical care such as school physicals, checkups, immunizations and more. WoodStarke Festival Planned Tomorrow in Knox

woodstarkeThe inaugural WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park in Knox promises a day full of healthy, family fun. A group of volunteers has put together a slate of activities. They will be set to a background of music by local, original bands from genres ranging from bluegrass and bagpipes to hard rock. Performers include Commander, Culver Pipes and Drums, Jerry Nenycz, Damien Acoustics, Adam Combs, Josh Grace, 10 Gauge, Welder and Company, South of Sorrow and Seldom Told.  Continue reading

Artists and Farmers Wanted for WoodStarke Festival

woodstarkeOrganizers of next weekend’s WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park in Knox are looking for vendors for the farmer’s market and artists who would like to display their wares. The Art in the Park area will be along the walkway near the Yellow River. Participants must bring their own easels or other displays. ACA Application Deadline Approaching

 
 
The clock is ticking for uninsured Hoosiers to apply for health-care coverage through the insurance marketplace. HealthLinc is a federally qualified health center serving northern Indiana. According to CEO Beth Wrobel, now that the initial hiccups with the national website for the Affordable Care Act are resolved, and those who signed up now getting their insurance cards, perceptions about the marketplace plans have changed.

HealthLinc to Host Coffee Talks on Affordable Care Act at SCPL

 
 
HealthLinc will be hosting “coffee talks” on the Affordable Care Act and its enrollment today at the Starke County Library, where they will discuss provide an opportunity for individuals to learn about the Affordable Care Act and how the law affects them and their loved ones. Certified application counselors will be on hand to help people enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace and help them find out if they qualify for subsidies that offset the cost of insurance coverage.

Free Dental Services to be Offered to Children Feb. 18

 Monday, Feb. 18 is American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” Day and HealthLinc will be participating in offering free dental services to uninsured children 18 years old and younger.

HealthLinc’s dental professionals will be giving free exams, cleanings, sealants and education at the Valparaiso and Michigan City sites. Those from Knox who would like to schedule an appointment can do so at either location. If you have Medicaid and other insurance coverage, you should call and ask about other appointment options.

Back to School Health and Wellness Fair Set For Aug. 1

Healthlinc, Inc. will be hosting the third annual Back to School Health and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, August 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. CT at the Knox Healthlinc Clinic, located at 104 E. Culver Road.

During this event, donated backpacks and supplies will be given to school-aged children, immunizations will be provided, and sports physicals will be available for uninsured and under-insured children. Other information and entertainment will also be offered.

Volunteer Fair this Saturday in Knox

The annual Volunteer Fair is this Saturday, April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Knox High School. The Volunteer Fair is sponsored by the Community Services of Starke County, Northwest Indiana Action Corporation, United Way of Porter County and Healthlinc.

Do you know where you can volunteer in Starke County? Over fifteen agencies will be present with volunteer opportunities for persons of all ages.
