Pulaski County has once again chosen Town & Country Paving for its next road project. County Road 1450 West is set to be resurfaced between 200 South and the Town of Francesville, according to Highway Superintendent Gary Kruger.

The U.S. 35 bridge in Downtown LaPorte will be closed for much of the day tomorrow, March 27, as NIPSCO upgrades its lines above the highway. INDOT says U.S. 35 will be closed between State Road 2 and Washington Street from about 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The right northbound lane is also expected to be closed on Monday, March 29 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Town of North Judson will be able to move ahead with $948,000 in sidewalk upgrades in the coming years. Mitch Hansel with Fleis & VandenBrink told the town council Monday that INDOT has approved the town’s application to cover 80 percent of that cost with federal funding.

A crash involving two semis shut down U.S. 30 in LaPorte County Monday morning. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies said in a Facebook post that it happened at the railroad crossing near Hanna. Injuries were reported.

Local communities are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the state to help with road projects. The recipients of the fall round of Community Crossings grants were announced by the Indiana Department of Transportation Tuesday. The program covers 50 or 75 percent of the cost of qualifying road and bridge projects.

Getting around North Judson by foot may become a little easier and safer over the coming years. The town council recently learned that INDOT plans to install sidewalks along State Road 10 for much of its length through the town, as part of an upcoming resurfacing and drainage project. Now, town officials are looking at adding sidewalks along some north-south streets to feed into the new State Road 10 sidewalk.
