The Culver Town Council discussed a request from Southwest Conservancy District Representative Kathy Clark to expand the district in order to hook up two properties to that sewer system.
The agreement that the district has allows 175 hookups to the system and 168 are already connected. One family has petitioned to connect to the line as their septic system has failed. The property is contiguous to the district’s system that runs along West Shore Drive. The family plans to combine two lots with one house and request an easement on one parcel to allow a lateral line through the vacant lot on West Shore Circle. Continue reading
Culver Town Council to Meet Tonight
The Culver Town Council will meet tonight where an update will be given on where to go now that the town was named a Stellar Community that will be followed by Jonathan Leist’s report on town activities.
Becca Pazin from the Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee Visitor Center will present information during tonight’s meeting and Kathy Clark will have a contract request on behalf of the Southwest Conservancy District.
Lake Maxinkuckee, Tippecanoe River Projects Receive LARE Grants
Two local waterways will be getting some upgrades, thanks to grant funding from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The latest round of Lake and River Enhancement program grants includes funds for projects benefiting Lake Maxinkuckee and the Tippecanoe River.
Culver TIF District Additions Get OK from Plan Commission
The members of the Culver Redevelopment Commission went before the Culver Plan Commission Tuesday night to present the approved addition of three parcels to the TIF District.
Redevelopment Commission President Kathy Clark said the plan commission members found that the proposal meets the specifications of the town’s comprehensive plan and now it will go before the Culver Town Council for approval.
Marshall County Commissioners Discuss TIF Expansion in Culver
Phil Faccenda, Jr. of Barnes and Thornburg of South Bend and Kathy Clark, President of the Culver Redevelopment Commission requested the Marshall County Commissioners to approve a resolution to include more properties into the Culver TIF (Tax Increment Finance) District.
Faccenda explained that the Culver Redevelopment Commission is going through a process of expanding the Culver economic development area one.
Deep Study at Lake Maxinkuckee Postponed
A deep study to determine the amount of nutrients, algae and other elements in Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, and its history, has been postponed to May 13-15.
The U.S. Geological Survey out of Kansas will conduct the study which the Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council (LMEC) predicts will make officials better understand how much change the lake has undergone since its last deep study done in 1984. One issue the scientists will be looking at is the amount of phosphorous in the lake.
