Knox Eases Into Golf Cart Ordinance Enforcement

 
 

Knox residents whose golf carts are equipped with headlights and taillights will be allowed to drive them to Wythogan Park for Saturday’s events leading up to the fireworks show. Fundraising Efforts Continue for Knox Police K9

 The Knox Police Department is approaching the halfway point in terms of fundraising for the purchase of a K9. Police Chief Harold Smith told the board of works on Wednesday they’ve raised $7,300 of the $17,000 to cover the cost of buying and training the dog and its handler. They hope to get a dual-purpose dog to detect drugs and assist with search and rescue efforts. Continue reading

Knox PD Launches K9 Fundraising Efforts

 The Knox Police Department is working to reestablish its K9 program and is seeking the public’s help to do so. Officer Chad Dulin is collecting donations to pay for the dog and cover the cost of training and equipment.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Starke County are joining forces to combat the local drug epidemic. During last night’s drug symposium hosted by the Knox Police Department and DCS, Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff announced a partnership that’s been two years in the planning. The Starke County Major Crimes Unit is an investigative task force made up of officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, the Knox Police Department and the Hamlet Police Department. Knox PD Drug Investigation Results in Three Arrests

 
 

An investigation by the Knox Police Department into reports of illegal drug activity culminated in the arrests of three Knox residents yesterday. City officers and members of the Starke County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of East Culver Road, according to Police Chief Harold Smith. They found methamphetamine, syringes and other narcotics and narcotic-related paraphernalia, according to the incident report. Continue reading

Knox PD Investigation Leads to 10 Drug Arrests

 
 

A Tuesday afternoon raid on a home in the 200 block of West Bender Street by Knox City Police and the Starke County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of 10 residents on various drug charges.

Knox Police Chief Harold Smith says investigators got several tips about possible drug use at the Tony and Deborah Clemons residence. They face charges of dealing in methamphetamine. Continue reading

Enforcement of the City of Knox truck route has some over-the-road drivers seeking alternate routes to access the industrial park. Mayor Dennis Estok to the board of works yesterday he’s gotten several telephone calls and emails since the stepped-up patrols started earlier this month. Stolen Car Leads to Arrest of Knox Man

An 18-year-old Knox man is jailed in connection with two separate cases. Officers from the Knox Police Department were called to Kruz, Inc. on Culver Road Thursday night to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Police Chief Harold Smith says officers discovered the vehicle was damaged and determined it had been stolen. Continue reading

Officers executed a search warrant around 4:30 p.m. yesterday at a home in the 200 block of Clark Street in Knox, according to Knox Police Chief Harold Smith.
