The findings from a facility assessment that was recently conducted by the firm Schmidt Associates was presented to Knox school officials during a work session Monday night.
Several representatives from the company were present and Firm Principal Tom Neff provided the assessment recap to the school board members, administrators and other officials in attendance.
Neff explained that their assessments identify the deficiencies in each of the buildings and assigns a value so they can be ranked according to priority. Continue reading
Knox Transportation Director Works to Get School New Buses at Best Cost
The Knox Community School Board approved the purchase of two new school buses during their meeting Monday evening. The school corporation has $319,282 allotted for bus replacement. The bus replacement budget has to be separate from the transportation budget since money in that budget can only go toward fuel, repairs and paying personnel. Continue reading
Eastern Pulaski, Knox Schools Adopt Student Transfer Policy
The Eastern Pulaski School Board and the Knox Community School Board members approved a transfer student policy during their respective meetings Monday night.
Eastern Pulaski School Superintendent Dr. Robert Klitzman stated that the corporation has to accept every student with very little restrictions.
Knox Teacher Accused of Sexual Misconduct To Appear For Initial Hearing Today
Todd Boldry will appear in Starke Circuit Court this morning for his initial hearing.
Boldry was arrested Friday, Aug. 24 at the Knox Middle School on charges of Child Seduction and Official Misconduct as Class D Felonies. He was arrested amidst allegations of sexual misconduct with a student that occurred as early as 2007.
Knox Community School Superintendent A.J. Gappa confirmed that he has suspended Boldry with pay from his teaching position at the Knox Middle School pending further investigation. The suspension was initiated after police took him into custody last week. The school board will approve that action during the board’s next meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Food Donations Needed for Kiwanis/Knox Schools Food Drive
The Knox Kiwanis Club and the Knox School Corporation are teaming up to help families in need this holiday season.
The two organizations are collecting food and/or cash donations to help Knox families. The requests for food baskets are greater than the donations. If you have food that you can donate to these organizations, you may drop it off at the Knox High School Office today or Thursday, or call 772-1670. The students and Kiwanis members will be assembling the food baskets on Thursday and delivering them to families on Friday.
