The county commissioners have agreed to turn the attached two-car garage into a secured area for body storage and viewing. Starke County Officials Pricing Ambulances
Starke County EMS spent nearly $2,000 last month to keep its fleet on the road. Director Keith Emigh told the commissioners Monday night most of that money went toward the truck at the Grovertown base. He says repairs at the county highway garage cost $1,764.10. Additionally an air conditioning problem on the rig based at Knox and a blower motor problem on the North Judson truck had to be fixed. Continue reading

Knox School Board Approves Teacher Contract
The Knox Federation of Teachers (KFT) and the Knox Community Schools have ratified a document that provides for a “status quo” agreement for the current year. New Starke Coroner Inducted in Short Ceremony, Monday
Starke County inducted a new Coroner on Monday afternoon.
Dannie Hoffer, Jr. was elected to serve in the position after members of the Starke County Democratic Party precinct committee made the selection, last week. Hoffer, Jr. was one of four candidates vying for the position.

Starke County Authorities Nab Five in Drug Patrol
An operation designed to locate illegal narcotics being transported through Starke County has landed a handful of individuals court dates.
Last Thursday, officers with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office conducted a four-hour saturation patrol on US 30. They employed the help of K9 Terror in the effort.
Trespassing Call Leads to Drug Arrest
A Winamac woman faces drug charges in Starke County after an alleged trespassing incident. Deputies from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 2000 south block of 700 East around 5:30 a.m. Friday after the resident reported someone was trying to break in. They found 33-year-old Patrina Hall outside the residence and arrested her for trespassing. Continue reading
