Starke County now has a park superintendent. Marc Vendl was appointed to the position during a special county park board meeting Thursday. The park board says Vendl previously served as the park administrator for the City of Logansport and also spent many years managing campgrounds and beaches in Texas.

The Starke County Commissioners held a public hearing Monday night to gather comments on the proposed projects that will benefit from the Constellation of Starke finalist money awarded in last year’s Regional Stellar Communities Designation process.

The Starke County Park Board has been coordinating with the Starke County Highway Department about some upcoming projects, but Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler said he needed the commissioners’ permission to move forward in doing the projects.
