South Bend Man Arrested following LaPorte County Police Chase

A South Bend man was arrested, following a LaPorte County police chase Saturday morning. Sheriff’s deputies say they tried to pull over a westbound pickup truck in the 3500 block of East State Road 2, after a registration check reportedly alerted officers that the female owner was a wanted person. The male driver allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a chase through LaPorte.

South Bend Man Accused of Vehicle Theft, Drug Possession following LaPorte County Traffic Stop

Driving a stolen vehicle with illegal drugs inside is what LaPorte County Police say landed a South Bend man in jail Wednesday night. A sheriff’s deputy says he was driving west on U.S. 20 near U.S. 35 when a computer check on the license plate of the vehicle in front of him revealed that it had been reported stolen.

Suspect Reportedly Shot in Thanksgiving Day Shootout with LaPorte County Police

A suspect was reportedly shot by LaPorte County Police Thursday. Indiana State Police say the Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 7000 block of County Road 500 West, at around 5:15 p.m. When they got there, officers say they were immediately met by gunfire, and a police vehicle was struck. Officers reportedly shot back, hitting the suspect.

Two Non-Compliant Sex Offenders Located, According to LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office

The two sex offenders who were found to be out of compliance during a recent check by LaPorte County authorities have since been located and arrested. Earlier this month, various agencies teamed up for Operation Scare and Beware, a pre-Halloween compliance sweep of all 104 sexually violent predators and offenders against children in LaPorte County.

Ohio Man Arrested after Firearm, Cash Reportedly Found during LaPorte County Traffic Stop

An Ohio man was arrested, after a LaPorte County traffic stop reportedly turned up a firearm and a large amount of cash. Sheriff’s deputies say it happened Sunday morning on the Indiana Toll Road. Police say they pulled over a westbound passenger vehicle after it followed another vehicle too closely and committed a traffic infraction while changing lanes.

LaPorte Woman Arrested After Twice Trying to Flee from Officers, According to Police

A LaPorte woman who was pulled over for allegedly holding a cell phone while driving now faces criminal charges, after police say she tried to flee from officers not once but twice. An officer with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office reportedly pulled over a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Sheila S. Kinney on 1st Street near Fisher Street at about 9:30 Wednesday morning.
