The award boasts a lengthy list of required qualifications, including a C-average and significant accomplishments in Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Jernas told WKVI morning host Tom Berg that her SAE covered beef production over two years, keeping records of projects as she built up her herd and maintained her beef production education.
Pulaski County 4-H Fair Queen Earns Third Runner-up in State Fair

Pulaski County’s 4-H Fair Queen, Stacy Gudas, was the 3rd runner up in the State Fair Queen Pageant held over the weekend. Erika Elaine Burghardt of Tippecanoe County topped 87 other contestants to earn the title of Miss Indiana State Fair. The event was held in the Pepsi Coliseum. Burghardt, a Mulberry native, is the third Tippecanoe County Queen to win the State Fair title and the first since 1996.
Lauren Jernas to Participate in the Indiana State Fair Pageant

Lauren Jernas, who was recently crowned Starke County 4-H royalty, will be competing in the Indiana State Fair Queen pageant August 19th-21st. Lauren will be competing with 88 other contestants from around the State for the honor of being the 2012 Queen.
Lauren was asked why she decided to be part of the pageant.
“I was chosen as one of the Starke County 4-H Royalty winners so I decided to go down to the State Fair to go to the pageant and have fun and meet a lot of different girls from around the state.”

Royalty was crowned at the Starke County 4-H Fair last night. The two winners are 10 year 4-H members.
“I’m 18 and this is my sixth year as a Junior Leader,” said Lauren Jernas. “I went to Oregon-Davis High School and in the Fall I will be attending Purdue University. I will be studying Animal Science.”
“I’m 18 years old and I go to Oregon-Davis High School,” said Megan Hinds. “Next Fall I am going to Ivy Tech in Valparaiso to study Early Childhood.”
