The Starke County Election Board members previously received notification that the Department of Local Government Finance approved the wording for the Culver Community Schools referendum question for North Bend Township voters on the November General Election ballot. This week they officially accepted the wording to be included on the ballot.
Testing of Voting Machines Set in Marshall County
The Marshall County Election Board invites voters to test voting machines in a test session this week.
Testing will be of the automatic tabulating equipment to be used in the General Election on Nov. 4. This will allow all voters to familiarize themselves with the voting process and to properly cast ballots.
Marshall County Commissioners Approve Consolidated Polling Sites
The Marshall County Commissioners approved the consolidation of several polling sites within the county during their meeting Monday morning.
Clerk Julie Fox and a representative from the Marshall County Election Board appeared before the commissioners with the consolidation proposal. All locations are ADA compliant. Plymouth went though redistricting which warranted change and it was the decision of the board to consolidate Center 1 and 2, Center 3 and 4, Center 5 and 6, and Center 7 and 8 into four separate voting locations. Also, Bourbon, German, North, Polk, Union, Walnut and West Township Precinct were all consolidated.
Marshall County Voting Districts May Consolidate Further
The push to consolidate districts in Marshall County is still a matter of discussion, as the Marshall County Election Board will soon make a decision regarding the possible consolidation of Center Township districts 1 and 2, and districts 3 and 4. However, Donna Pontius, voter registration deputy clerk for Marshall County, said nothing has been decided definitively.
Marshall County Commissioners Approve Change in Voting Districts
Marshall County Clerk Julie Fox and a member of the Marshall County Election Board appeared before the commissioners for the approval of amendments to four Plymouth voting districts.
When the census was conducted in 2010, it was found that the four Center Township voting districts in Plymouth were not equal. The four voting districts were amended to equal amounts. The election board felt that it was confusing to split up the districts in which they had become so the boundaries were changed.
