A grant application for a new Medaryville fire station has prompted Pulaski County to update its fair housing policies. The Medaryville-White Post Township Fire Department wants to get a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant to build a new fire station north of the town hall. Since the fire department can’t actually apply for the grant, the application is going through the Pulaski County.

Three local fire departments are teaming up to provide temporary coverage to Railroad Township. The North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department announced on Facebook Thursday that Chief Joe Leszek, along with the chiefs of the LaCrosse and Medaryville-White Post Township volunteer fire departments, have agreed to cover Railroad Township on a non-contracted basis.
One Dead, Following House Fire near Medaryville
A house fire in rural Medaryville has claimed a life. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Monday afternoon around 2:30, in the 9000 block of County Road 300 North. When Medaryville firefighters arrived, they reportedly found a deceased victim inside the home. The victim’s name has not yet been released. The Sheriff’s Office is helping with the investigation.
Crane Cruise Bicycle Ride to Take Place October 14
See the sandhill cranes while enjoying a bike ride through rural Pulaski and Jasper counties next week. The Medaryville-White Post Township Fire Department will hold the 19th annual Crane Cruise Bicycle Ride on Saturday, October 14.
