An engineer from Midwestern Engineers submitted an analysis to Culver town officials responding to complaints of drainage problems in several downtown building basements along South Main Street from north of East Jefferson Street to south of East Madison Street.

The Culver Town Council members took action Tuesday night to move the Sand Hill Farms construction a little further along the process.
Last week, bids were opened for the utilities portion of the project and Midwestern Engineers had the opportunity to review the three bids submitted for the workforce housing development project at 540 W. Jefferson Street. The utilities portion includes the installation of water and sewer lines, a pump station, manhole, a road into the subdivision, curbs and sidewalks, and grading and seeding. The engineers estimate for the project was around $700,000.
Winamac Town Council Holds Public Hearing Over Application for $700,000 OCRA Grant
Winamac Town Council members held a public hearing over their OCRA grant application Monday night.
OCRA Certified Grant Administrator Mike Kleinpeter began the hearing by stating that the town is applying for $700,000 with a $550,000 match for proposed wastewater treatment facility upgrades. Kleinpeter said town’s project is competing with 17 other proposals. The application must be submitted by February in order to be eligible for funding.
Midwestern Engineers CEO Mark Sullivan explained that the proposed upgrades are not optional.When the town renewed their NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Permit last year, they were given 3 years to adapt plant procedures to the new Environmental Protection Agency compliance regulating ammonia levels. Water and sewer infrastructure for Culver’s Sand Hill Farms workforce housing development will cost an estimated $400,000. That’s according to Mark Sullivan with Midwestern Engineers. He met with the town council Tuesday to give an update on the project.
