A six-day trial in Pulaski County Circuit Court resulted in guilty verdicts for defendant 51-year-old Danny James Clark of Medaryville. He was charged with murder and other felony charges including arson surrounding the death of William “Neil” Toosley in August 2018.

LaPorte County Police have announced a murder charge, in connection with an ongoing child death investigation. As previously reported, sheriff’s deputies say they got a call of an unconscious child at a home in the 3100 block of East County Road 875 South early Monday morning. The child, later identified as four-year-old Judah Morgan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The correctional officer killed in Sunday’s stabbing at the Indiana State Prison has been identified. Lieutenant Eugene Lasco died from his injuries, after he was attacked by an offender, according to the Indiana Department of Correction. Edward Blackburn has been given the maximum allowable sentence of 65 years in prison for the murder of Cord Colgrove. During Friday’s sentencing hearing, Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall noted a number of aggravating factors, including a criminal history with multiple felonies and misdemeanors. Hall also pointed out that Blackburn was on probation for a felony count of wire fraud, and as part of that, was legally barred from owning a firearm, when he shot and killed Colgrove in March of 2017.

A man convicted of sex crimes and murder was released from the Indiana Department of Corrections.
According to a press release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, Richard Dobeski was let out of a New Castle, Indiana facility. He is a registered sex offender for crimes against children in Indiana.
LaPorte Man Jailed on Murder Charge, Investigation Continues
A LaPorte man is jailed on a murder charge, accused of killing his wife. Officers from the LaPorte Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress around 12:30 this morning at a home in the 800 Block of “E” Street. When officers arrived, they found a man, identified as Joseph E. Jemiolo, 60, coming out of the house. They found out Jemiolo lived there and proceeded to search the house. That’s when they found the body of Kathy Jemiolo, 48, who was pronounced dead by the LaPorte County Coroner. Joseph Jemiolo is jailed on a preliminary charge of murder based on evidence at the scene. LaPorte Police stress the investigation is continuing.
Bond denied for accused murder
A Starke County woman police say fatally shot her boyfriend in the chest at their rural Knox home last week remains in jail. Bond was denied for Kathleen Holt, 51, during a Monday court appearance. She reportedly called 911 after shooting Ron Worker on Feb.13 and confessed to the crime. Holt pleaded not guilty during her initial court appearance last Friday. She faces up to 55 years in prison if she’s convicted. Investigators with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office have yet to release a motive in the shooting. Holt’s trial is set to start May 22.
Police arrest Knox woman on murder charge
A Knox woman is jailed on a murder charge after reportedly shooting her boyfriend. Kathleen Holt, 51, shot the victim, Ron Worker, 46, also of Knox at a residence on CR 550 E. Near CR 200 S. in Knox around 3:30 p.m. Hold called 911 and told Starke County dispatchers she had just shot her boyfriend, according to police. Worker was was pronounced dead at IU Health Starke Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled later today. Holt’s bond hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday. Police have recovered the weapon they believe was used in the shooting.
