“Miracle on Ice” Message of Faith, Unity Resonates Today

One of the greatest moments in the history of sports still has implications today, right here in Starke County. That’s the message former WSBT-TV sports anchor Charlie Adams shared during the National Day of Prayer breakfast in Knox yesterday. He’s studied the “Miracle on Ice” at length. It took place in Lake Placid, New York during the 1980 Winter Olympics. City of Knox to Celebrate National Day of Prayer Tomorrow

National Day of Prayer 2015Churches, business and civic leaders and Starke County residents will join in prayer and fellowship tomorrow to celebrate the National Day of Prayer. Chuck Bachelder from the First Christian Church of Knox will keynote the City of Knox National Day of Prayer Breakfast. It starts at 7 a.m. at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. Starke County Celebrates National Day of Prayer

 
 

One Voice United in Prayer is the theme of Starke County’s National Day of Prayer observation. It will take place this morning at 7 a.m. at the community center in downtown Knox. The program will feature a concert of prayer under the direction of Rich Wallen. Eagle Creek Community Church Pastor Ed Hasnerl will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Congress passed a joint resolution in 1952 establishing the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer. President Harry S. Truman signed it into law.

 

Starke County National Day of Prayer Breakfast Planned May 2

 
 

Starke County leaders will come together on Thursday, May 2 at the Nancy K. Dembowski Community Center in downtown Knox to “Pray for America.” That’s the theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer breakfast and is based on the verse from Matthew 12:21: “In His name, the nations will put their hope.” Starke County Historian Ed Hasnerl will be the guest speaker.

Local National Day of Prayer Scheduled for May 2

 
 

The local National Day of Prayer event sponsored by the city of Knox will be on May 2 at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox.

One of the committee members, Dixie Lockridge, said Ed Hasnerl will be the guest speaker.

“The theme this year throughout the nation is Honoring Our Heroes. Who better to do that than our Historian Ed Hasnerl? There will be other clergy members who will be involved as well as our Master of Ceremonies who will be Charlie Hasnerl,” stated Lockridge.

National Day of Prayer Service Held Thursday in Knox

The Annual National Day of Prayer Service was held yesterday morning at the Knox Community Center. Sponsored by the City of Knox, and Love Inc., over 200 people attended and heard an address by Pastor James Adcock of the Bible Baptist Church.

“The World Day of Prayer is a day of reflection of where our nation is, was and where it’s going,” said Pastor Adcock. “Everything in our nation has come as a result of prayer, from George Washington to our current President, Barack Obama. Everything happens as a result of prayer and I think this is the day we reflect on that.”

National Day of Prayer Breakfast Scheduled in Knox

The 60th Annual National Day of Prayer is on Thursday, May 5th. A prayer breakfast will be held at the Knox Community Center for those to gather and turn to God in prayer and meditation.

The event in Knox will be from 7:00-8:00 a.m. CT and Pastor James Adcock will be the guest speaker. A full breakfast will be served for $8.00 per person.
