Kid’s Closet Ministry Pack-a-Backpack Event a Success

The volunteers behind the Pack-a-Backpack event call Saturday’s school supply drive a success. School supplies were purchased from members of the community to help students in need through the Kid’s Closet Ministry at the North Judson United Methodist Church at 210 Central Ave.

Any Starke County student in kindergarten through 12th grade who qualifies for free or reduced lunch is welcome to attend the 5th annual Kid’s Closet Pack-a-Backpack on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, Aug. 1. School supplies may be chosen at that time. The child must be present and the parent must have proper identification.

Kankakee Valley REMC Launches School Supply Drive

BackpackKankakee Valley REMC wants to make sure children are property equipped for the start of the new school year.

The member-owned electrical cooperative has launched its third annual Pack A Backpack school supply drive. Marketing Director Amanda Steeb says they want to help local families throughout their service area who might be struggling fulfill the necessary list of school supplies for their children. Kids Closet Receives a Plethora of Supplies for Upcoming Back-to-School Event

pack a backpackKids Closet Ministry annually provides school supplies to underprivileged children in Starke County with their Pack-a-Backpack event. Community members get the chance to contribute during their school supply drives. This year while Kids Closet was posted outside the Dollar General stores in North Judson and Knox they received an ample amount of supplies from weekend shoppers. Kid’s Closet Ministry Receives Grants to Help Starke County Youngsters

Kids Closet_01A foundation that focuses on providing for the community has recently received quite a substantial amount of money for their dedication to the well being of the children of Starke County. Kid’s Closet Ministry was not only gifted a $2,000 grant through the Starke United Fund but recently was approved to receive $3,000 thanks to the kind submission of a community member who realized the importance of the foundation. Kid’s Closet Ministry Pack-a-Backpack Event This Week

  
 
With the supply drives behind them, Kid’s Closet Ministry’s Pack-a-Backpack event is coming up this week. On Aug. 7 and 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. CT at the North Judson Methodist Church, Linda Lewandowski said the ministry will be giving away school supplies to children in need.

“We’re looking for children in need. So, basically, if your children are on free or reduced lunch, then they should qualify for a free backpack and school supplies. You just need to show up on Aug. 7 or 8, Wednesday and Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall at the North Judson United Methodist Church and we will have paperwork for you to fill out – a registration form for the children. The children have to be present with the parent or guardian,” Lewandowski explained.

Kid’s Closet Ministry to Hold Drives in Preparation for Pack-a-Backpack Event

  
 
The Kid’s Closet Ministry’s Pack-a-Backpack event is approaching, planned for Aug. 7 and 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. CT at the North Judson United Methodist Church. According to Linda Lewandowski, director of the ministry, they are holding drives to collect school supplies to be given to children in need.

“Kids Closet Ministry is all about kids in need in Starke County. It’s a new ministry that began in the spring that just came from an idea, and so we’re kind of working on it and seeing what we can do,” said Lewandowski.
