The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is giving out not one, but two, H.J. Halleck Community Service Awards. Pulaski residents Paul and Brenda Gilsinger have been named the 2021 Halleck Award recipients, according to a chamber press release. But since no award was given last year, the chamber has also named Betty Kruger of Francesville as the 2020 recipient.

Paul Gilsinger is being honored not only for his many years of owning the local John Deere dealership but also for his community involvement, specifically as a Kiwanis Club member and active 4-H supporter. Johnny Poppers are all John Deere tractors from the Model D in 1924 to the last series in 1958-1960. And they were called Johnny Poppers because of their distinctive exhaust sounds.
Gilsinger Implement Purchases Kauffman Sons Inc.
Gilsinger Implement, Indiana’s oldest John Deere Dealership, recently purchased Kauffman Sons, Inc., a fourth-generation commercial and lawn and garden dealer. With established locations in Winamac, Knox, Leesburg, and Plymouth, Gilsinger Implement will now operate dealerships in Goshen and Mishawaka.
