Updates on a couple projects at the Winamac Town Park are expected during tonight’s park board meeting. Town officials have been working with an architect to design new restrooms for the Town Park, but the proposed design raised a few questions during last month’s park board meeting. The concerns involved things like the number of toilets and the differences between the men’s and women’s restrooms.

Winamac Park Board to Continue Researching Toddler Playground Equipment, in Spite of High Costs

Getting new equipment for the Winamac Town Park’s toddler playground may be more of a challenge than originally thought. The town’s Kiwanis Club had hoped to donate about $4,000 for that purpose. Ideas for improving the Winamac Town Park will continue to be discussed during tonight’s park board meeting. Last month, board members said they would like to see the equipment in the toddler playground replaced. The Winamac Kiwanis Club has offered to pay for the new equipment, if it’s awarded a matching grant from the Indiana District of Kiwanis.

Winamac Town Park Kiddie Playground May Get New Equipment

The Winamac Town Park’s small children’s playground may soon get new equipment, thanks to the town’s Kiwanis Club. The club has the chance to apply for a matching grant from the Indiana District of Kiwanis, and has offered to pursue funds for playground equipment. That’s according to Town Attorney Justin Schramm, who also serves on the club’s executive board.

IU Health Starke Hospital to Help Knox Elementary PTO with Playground Project

IU Health Starke Hospital employees will be participating in the third annual Day of Community Service event today at the Knox Elementary School. The staff members will work with the Knox Elementary PTO to assist with landscape upgrades to the playground facilities at the school.

The project will begin at 7:00 a.m. today. The Hospital gave the PTO $3,000 to buy mulch and two semi loads of mulch was delivered to the school this week for the project. The PTO purchased an additional $1,000 worth of mulch to fully complete upgrading the playground facilities.
